Lead Preschool Teacher We are looking for a fully qualified preschool teacher to work 40 hours per week.The Lead Preschool Teacher is supervised by the Program Director and is responsible for the overall teaching and success of the Mini Makers™ Preschool Program, including:Create and implement curriculum for a play-based, child-directed program for preschool-aged children (ages 2-5 years old), including weekly lesson plans, activities and classroom set-upsManage a classroom with the support of Assistant Teachers, Teacher’s Aides, and support staff Assess children’s needs and development and communicate with Preschool staff Work closely with families to encourage mutual cooperationProvide guidance to instructional staff to help resolve issues with students when necessaryEnsure the safety of all children in our programClosely follow licensing regulations related to child careServe as the substitute Site Supervisor when the Program Director is offsiteParticipate in light housekeeping to sanitize and reset the space daily MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONSAt least 18 years of ageMinimum of 12 semester units in Early Childhood Education, Child Development, or a related fieldAt least 6-months professional childcare teaching experience in a Center-Based ProgramCurrently CPR/First Aid Certified (8-hour EMSA training)Clean LiveScan and Federal Background CheckComplete all State-Required Hiring Paperwork (W4, TB clearance, immunizations, etc.)Completed 8-hour Preventative Health and Nutrition trainingAbility to effectively communicate in both written and verbal formats and collaborate effectively in a professional environmentMust be able to lift up to 50 pounds safely and climb stairs with ease DESIRED QUALIFICATIONSCompleted a Bachelor’s Degree at an accredited higher education institutionDemonstrate position leadership and communication skills for successfully influencing a professional team, including any previous supervisory experienceChild Development Associate Teacher Permit, Teacher Permit, or Master Teacher Permit SCHOOL BACKGROUNDWe are a small Center-Based Preschool that operates weekdays from 7:45am-5:15pm (LIC 343623934). Our philosophy centers around teaching character education through play and developmentally-based academic learning (letters, numbers, colors, shapes, etc) and lots of student-directed, exploratory play and creativity. We have a very strong teaching team for the 25 students (2-5 years), including a Lead Teacher, Assistant Teachers, and Teacher's Aides and also have developed a supervisory mentorship program to train student interns who are studying early childhood education.
