Radiology Office Assistant
Position Summary:
Under the direction of the radiation oncology administrator or designee, the Radiology Assistant is responsible for registration and scheduling for all provider and nursing appointments within the department. Performs all phases of clerical duties to include receiving and logging of patient’s information, scheduling, filing typing, transport, answering phones, and other administrative function in support of the clinical team and to ensure clear and accurate information is shared with each patient.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities Include the Following:
1. Understands and adheres to the WPH Performance Standards, Policies and Behaviors
2. Abides by scheduling policy
3. Works with Radiation Oncology team to address any planned schedule change
4. Will be required to work in case of emergencies or when situations arise in the department. This includes change of shift and/or overtime to ensure the support of patients and the clinical team.
5. Maintains the cleanliness of all work areas, equipment, and accessories. Reports all malfunctioning equipment to Bio Med or supervisor.
6. Performs routine office duties, such as answering phones, scheduling appointments, faxing, and emailing other departments to obtain needed information.
7. May be assigned as an instructor or preceptor for new team members beginning their departmental assignment
8. Should be skillful in providing compassionate and thoughtful communication to a diverse population of patients
9. Performs other related duties as required, attends staff meetings and in-services
10. Duties and hours may change according to the needs of the department or hospital
11. Prioritizes and organizes own workload and routine administrative matters to assure completion of tasks within the designated timeframe
12. Coordinates follow up of all customer service and satisfaction matters as directed. When needed, escalates any customer service matters to administrator for assistance
13. Informs supervisor if office or clinical supplies are needed
Education & Experience Requirements:
High school Diploma/GED required.
Have general knowledge of typing, computer skills, and knowledge of medical terminology.
Recommended; being a highly motivated, positive person with strong communication and organizational skills.

Ability to remain in stationary position 80% of the time
Constantly utilizes/operates computer to access information
Constantly scans documents from computer and other scanning locations
Ability to communicate to physicians and other hospital employees regarding requests for information and assist physicians with basic chart completion procedures
Ability to navigate multiple web based records systems to obtain and review patient information for accuracy
Works with outside vendors as needed to ensure supplies are delivered to the correct location within the department

Schedule: Full Time, Day, Mon-Fri 9am-5pm
