Swine Maintenance Technician
General DescriptionThe Swine Maintenance Technician position provides maintenance support to our growing territory of swine production facilities. Job duties include completing maintenance work orders and preventative maintenance at our swine facilities.Essential Job Functions And Responsibilities Complete repairs in swine facilities related to plumbing, carpentry, electrical, hardware / gating, heating and cooling systemsPlumbingToiletsShowersBathroomWater heaterWater lines for swine facilitiesHeating and cooling systemsCarpentryFramingRoofingConcreteElectrical120 and 240 voltagesLight switches, outletsWiring fan and feed line motorsCurtain machinesHardware/GatingBoltsGate feet (bolting gates to concrete slats)WeldingRepair of feeders and gatesFabrication of materialsManage tools and parts inventories in service vehicles to enable timely completion of work ordersPrioritize work orders to ensure high priority items are repaired firstSafely work with hand and power tools to complete work ordersAdhere to pig owners strict bio-security and animal well-being standardsPerform duties in a safe manner and follow all safety policiesMaintain positive relationships with clients, vendors, visitors, neighbors, and co-workerAll other duties assigned by ManagerWorkskill RequirementsMust be mechanical mindedAbility to trouble shoot and utilize resources to problem solve issuesWelding ability is not required, but preferredComfortable working around livestockWork with limited or no supervisionPhysicality RequirementsRequired to stand; walk; sit; use hands to handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls; reach with hands and arms; climb stairs; balance; stoop; kneel, crouch.The employee must be able to continuously repeat necessary movements such as bending, lifting and different hand movements as needed to complete tasks.Ability to lift or move up to 10 pounds frequently and occasionally lift or move up to 50 pounds.Ability to climb up ladders and over gates.Ability to climb on and off livestock trailers that can be as short as 40 inches in height.Work EnvironmentThis position is performed inside swine facilities with the occasional need for some tasks to be performed in outside weather conditions.As times, exposure to loud noises along with dust and fumes particularly in Winter months.Position TypeThis position is full time that will typically work 50 hours per week Monday-Friday with the occasional weekend work with the additional availability during weather and staffing challenges.Education/ExperienceWorking knowledge of three to six months of general maintenanceValid driver’s license with acceptable Motor Vehicle RecordValid, Unrestricted Class A Commercial Driver’s License, preferred, not required
