Data Governance Consultant

Role: Data Governance Consultant (Execution Focus) Location: San Mateo, CA (Hybrid) Duration: Contract (36 Months) Hybrid role Overview:We are seeking aData Governance Consultantto support the execution of an established data governance strategy. The ideal candidate will be hands-on and responsible for implementing governance frameworks, policies, and tools across the organization to ensure data quality, compliance, and usability. Key Responsibilities: Execution/Functional Implement and operationalize theexisting data governance framework and policies Work with business and IT teams toenforce data standards, definitions, and ownership (data stewardship) Establish and maintaindata quality rules, metrics, and monitoring processes Drive adoption ofdata governance practices across departments Support data classification, lineage, and metadata management initiatives Technical/Tools Configure and supportdata governance and catalogue tools(e.g., Collibra, Alation, Informatica, etc.) Implementdata lineage and metadata managementsolutions Work closely with data engineering teams to ensure governance is embedded in pipelines Supportdata access controls and compliance requirements Required Skills & Experience: 58+ years of experience inData Governance, Data Management, or Data Quality Proven experience inexecuting data governance programs (not just strategy) Hands-on experience withdata governance tools(Collibra, Alation, Informatica, etc.) Strong understanding ofdata quality, metadata, lineage, and stewardship concepts Ability to work cross-functionally withbusiness and technical teams Preferred Qualifications: Experience working inPublic Sector/Government environments Knowledge ofdata privacy and compliance frameworks(e.g., GDPR, CCPA) Familiarity withcloud data platforms(AWS, Azure, GCP)
