Manufacturing | On-site (Tar Heel, NC)Travel: Approximately 50%Salary: $141,250+ DOEBenefits: Medical, Dental, Vision, 401(k), Education ReimbursementPosition SummaryThe Project Engineering Manager is responsible for leading large-scale engineering projects that improve manufacturing performance, operational efficiency, and long-term plant growth within a fast-paced food manufacturing environment. This role partners closely with plant leadership, operations, engineering teams, vendors, and contractors to drive projects from concept through implementation while ensuring projects remain on schedule, within budget, and aligned with operational objectives.This position also provides leadership and development support to engineering teams while driving innovation, identifying operational risks, and implementing practical engineering solutions across multiple facilities.Key Responsibilities• Lead engineering projects from concept through installation, startup, and completion• Develop engineering designs, material specifications, feasibility studies, and project cost estimates• Apply sound engineering principles to improve operational efficiency, reduce waste, and support manufacturing performance• Conduct feasibility studies, economic analysis, and operational reviews to support project planning and execution• Coordinate project schedules and activities with plant leadership, vendors, contractors, consultants, and engineering teams• Direct vendors and contractors during project execution, installation, and implementation activities• Review engineering submissions, drawings, and technical documentation for accuracy, completeness, and compliance• Ensure all designs meet required codes, standards, and regulatory requirements• Support layout planning, utility coordination, and installation requirements for projects• Define project scope, prepare proposals, review contractor bids, and support contract administration activities• Monitor project progress and provide regular status updates to leadership teams• Prepare and maintain project documentation including drawings, manuals, specifications, schedules, vendor records, and as-built updates• Manage project budgets, timelines, and financial performance targets• Lead and support multiple large-scale projects simultaneously across multiple locations• Provide leadership, coaching, and employee development support to engineering teams• Identify operational risks, emerging trends, and opportunities for continuous improvement• Travel to support engineering projects and collaboration across multiple facilitiesRequired Qualifications• Bachelor's degree in Engineering or related field; or equivalent combination of education and experience• Minimum 5+ years of relevant engineering experience within a manufacturing environment• Minimum 2+ years of leadership experience including team development and management• Strong understanding of engineering design, manufacturing operations, and project execution• Experience with installation and construction project scheduling• Strong project management and contract administration experience• Ability to interpret and apply engineering codes, standards, and compliance requirements• Proficiency with AutoCAD and standard engineering tools• Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite• Strong analytical, organizational, problem-solving, and communication skills• Ability to work independently and collaboratively within fast-paced manufacturing environments• Comfortable traveling up to 50%Preferred Qualifications• Previous experience managing multi-million-dollar or large-scope capital projects• Experience supporting food processing, meat manufacturing, or highly regulated production environments• Knowledge of engineering economics and cost analysis• Strong leadership style focused on employee development and team collaboration• Ability to build strong cross-functional working relationships across operations and engineering teamsAdditional Skills• Excellent written and verbal communication skills• Strong organizational planning and adaptability• Ability to manage multiple priorities and projects simultaneously• Team-oriented leadership style with a collaborative approach• Ability to thrive in dynamic manufacturing environmentsIf you meet the above qualifications and would like to apply for this position, please click APPLY NOW and upload your most current resume or email your resume to Heather.Murphy@adeccona.com.
