Corrosion Technician

Work location in either Billings, Bozeman or Butte.Qualifications Include Must be able to demonstrate and maintain a good safety record High school diploma or equivalent Demonstrated experience or training in corrosion control preferred Current AMPP/NACE certification is a plus Must obtain AMPP CP1 (if not already obtained) within 12 months of hiring date Meet and maintain "Operator Qualification" standards Valid driver's license and satisfactory driving record First Aid/CPR Certification Subject to DOT drug testing requirements Get Into Energy -- Energy Industry Fundamental 2.0 certification is a plus [getintoenergy.org] (click the link to certify at no cost)Duties Include Knowledge of corrosion fundamentals Ability to inspect, monitor and remediate atmospheric, external, and internal corrosion on NWE pipelines Become proficient in preforming cathodic assessment surveys, such as: pipe to soil, atmospheric, CIS, ACVG, DCVG, coating conductance, Current Mapping, Soil Resistivity, and leak detection Familiar with ILI assessments and verification of anomalies in the field Comprehension on the requirements, assessment and ability to install and maintain cathodic bonds Familiarity with cathodic electrical isolation, AC inspections and mitigation Knowledge and physical skills in building, inspecting, installing and maintaining rectifiers and ground beds Basic understanding of electrical circuits and electricity systems is a plus Build, inspect, install and maintain cathodic, anode junction boxes, remote monitors, coupon test stations and pipeline test stations Ability to independently think and identify efficiencies and process improvements that helps the group Proficient in data collection, data retention, assessment of data, data analysis, and data maintenance within the American Innovations PCS database Maintain compliance with applicable regulations, codes, policies, and procedures Travel to all areas of the gas system can be expected with overnight stay as needed up to 50% per year; training will be conducted in areas outside of the designated work location and may require additional travel for up to the first 3 years Must have the ability and be willing to obtain AMPP/NACE level I,II,III, and IV certifications The ability to maintain regular, reliable, and punctual attendance is an essential function of this position, consistent with applicable laws and reasonable accommodation requirements Position requires performing individual lifting and manipulating of equipment and materials weighing up to 50 pounds and various other physical activities in a variety of weather extremes All NorthWestern Energy employees are required to adhere to company safety standards and the Code of Business Conduct & Ethics Ensure all actions are consistent with NorthWestern Energy's values, mission and strategic business objectivesFull-time position.$27.50 to $55.09 per hour, depending on experience.
