OverviewOne of the largest and most respected mechanical contractors in the United States is seeking an experienced Purchasing Manager to lead procurement operations for a growing Midwest office. This role will play a critical part in supporting large-scale commercial and industrial mechanical construction projects while establishing and leading the purchasing function for the region.The Purchasing Manager will oversee the sourcing and procurement of major mechanical equipment, materials, and subcontracted services while building strong vendor partnerships and implementing effective procurement processes. This position will collaborate closely with executive leadership, project management, and operations teams to ensure projects are delivered efficiently, on schedule, and within budget.This is an excellent opportunity to help build and lead a purchasing team within a rapidly expanding office while working on complex, high-profile mechanical projects.Key ResponsibilitiesLead all purchasing and procurement activities for large commercial and industrial mechanical construction projectsDevelop and implement procurement strategies that align with project schedules, budgets, and operational goalsSource and negotiate with vendors for major mechanical equipment, materials, and subcontracted services including HVAC equipment, piping systems, sheet metal, and related componentsBuild and maintain strong relationships with manufacturers, distributors, and supplier partnersEstablish and manage purchasing policies, procedures, and best practices for a growing regional officeCollaborate closely with project managers, estimators, and field leadership to support project planning and executionManage purchase orders, vendor contracts, and supplier agreementsMonitor material pricing trends and identify opportunities for cost savings and strategic sourcingBuild and lead the purchasing team as the office continues to growEnsure procurement efforts align with project budgets, schedules, and quality expectationsWork with accounting and operations teams to maintain accurate cost tracking and reportingQualifications7+ years of experience in purchasing, procurement, or supply chain management within construction or mechanical contractingExperience sourcing equipment and materials for large commercial or industrial construction projectsStrong understanding of mechanical systems including HVAC, piping, plumbing, and sheet metalExperience negotiating vendor agreements and managing supplier relationshipsProven leadership ability with experience building or managing purchasing teams preferredStrong organizational, communication, and project coordination skillsAbility to work cross-functionally with project management, estimating, and field teamsBachelor's degree in Construction Management, Supply Chain, Business, or related field preferredWhy This OpportunityJoin one of the largest and most respected mechanical contractors in the countryOpportunity to build and lead the purchasing function for a growing regional officeWork on large, complex mechanical construction projectsEmployee Stock Ownership Plan (ESOP) providing long-term wealth-building opportunitiesCompetitive compensation and comprehensive benefits package
