The Cloud Operations Manager will take a hands-on approach to their work while maintaining responsibility for designing, building, and operating cloud-native infrastructure and tooling that enables high-quality software delivery. Leads CI/CD pipeline development, SDLC policy enforcement, and the transition to a modern, scalable platform. Lays the organizational and technical groundwork for a growing Cloud Operations team.Key ResponsibilitiesDesign, implement, and maintain a scalable cloud-native platform using Kubernetes, AWS services, and infrastructure-as-code tools.Build and maintain CI/CD pipelines for all software projects; standardize deployment practices across teams.Establish and enforce SDLC policies covering code quality, version control, and testing.Build observability frameworks (logging, metrics, distributed tracing) and proactive alerting systems.Advocate for DevOps principles and mentor development teams adopting cloud-native workflows.Define the Cloud Operations team scaling strategy; build foundational processes for efficient growth.Hire, develop, and retain engineering talent; provide clear career paths, ongoing feedback, and a high-performance culture.Track team performance metrics and use data to drive operational improvement.Requirements7+ years in Cloud Engineering, Site Reliability Engineering, or DevOps; BS/MS in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field (or 10 years equivalent experience).Hands-on experience with Kubernetes/ECS/OpenShift, AWS (EC2, S3, RDS, EKS), Terraform or CloudFormation, and CI/CD tools (Jenkins, GitHub Actions, GitLab CI, or similar).Strong programming skills in Python, Go, Ruby, or Bash.Deep familiarity with observability tools: Prometheus, Grafana, OpenTelemetry.Proven track record scaling modern deployment practices in complex environments.Must pass background check, drug screening, and comply with vaccination policy. Unrestricted U.S. work authorization required.Preferred1–2 years in a direct management role with demonstrated ability to build and develop high-performing teams.Experience selling the value of cloud platform initiatives to non-technical leadership.Ability to optimize cloud costs and negotiate vendor contracts.Track record leading teams through cloud migrations or DevOps transformations.Skill at translating complex cloud concepts into clear narratives for executive and developer audiences.
