Nuclear Island Resident Engineer

Talascend is currently seeking a Nuclear Island Resident Engineer for a contract opportunity with our client in Loveland, Colorado.OverviewThe Resident Engineer will create and review design solutions for procurements for the Sodium Cover Gas Team as well as the Fuel Handling Team, supporting the Natrium Reactor. This role will provide oversight and coordination of equipment supplier on-site and will work closely with various teams for contract management and technical integration.ResponsibilitiesOversight of supplier design and delivery of fuel handling and cover gas equipment from requirements through final design and delivery of equipment to site.Support design, fabrication, construction, and testing of systems and equipment.Coordinate and oversee design and fabrication work by suppliers, including regular on-site support.Identify and ensure effective application of design codes and regulatory requirements.Participate in design reviews.Propose and define testing programs.Provide support and oversight during test execution, evaluation of test results, and reporting of test results.Act in Project Management capacity for supplier performance management and oversight.Apply classic project management tools to oversee suppliers including cost, schedule, submittal oversight, and resources.Coordinate Supplier deliverables and ensure thorough and timely review.Manage submittal process between Supplier and TerraPower.Provide support to contract administration and commercial activities as needed.Generate and maintain Statements of Work.Execute project planning to meet program objectives.QualificationsB.S. degree in Mechanical Engineering preferred.M.S. and Doctorate degrees may be credited for up to two and four years of experience respectively.A minimum of five years of mechanical design experience.RequirementsPMP certification preferred or equivalent training.Manufacturing oversight experience.Understanding of fabrication travelers, welding, piping systems, and other similar manufacturing processes.Experience defining supplier work scope to include development of SOWs, RFPs and providing direction and oversight of supplier projects required.Demonstrated skills in supporting contractual/commercial aspects of customer/supplier relationships.Excellent technical writing, documentation, and communication skills.A successful candidate must possess a high degree of trust and integrity, communicate openly and display respect and a desire to foster teamwork.Preferred RequirementsNuclear industry experience working under an ASME NQA-1 quality program.Experience with ASME Boiler and Pressure Vessel Code Section III or Section VIII a plus.We thank all applicants for their interest.
