Accounting Manager – ManufacturingWork Location: Cincinnati, OH or Totowa, NJIndustry: ManufacturingWorking Model: Hybrid (Remote option may be considered)About the RoleA Japanese global manufacturing and technology company is seeking an experienced and hands-on Accounting Manager to oversee accounting operations supporting the company's Ohio manufacturing plant. This role will lead plant accounting activities, ensure accurate financial reporting, strengthen internal controls, and provide financial insights that support business and operational decisions.The ideal candidate will bring strong manufacturing and cost accounting expertise, leadership experience, and the ability to collaborate cross-functionally with operations and executive management.Key Responsibilities:Financial & Operational AccountingLead the monthly, quarterly, and annual financial close processesPrepare and review accurate financial statements in accordance with US GAAPManage general ledger activities, account reconciliations, and consolidationsOversee manufacturing and cost accounting functions, including:Standard costingInventory accounting and valuationBOM (Bill of Materials) analysisLabor and overhead absorptionProduction variance analysisMonitor inventory controls and support physical inventory processesAnalyze margins, operational performance, and cost reduction initiativesSupport cash flow management, budgeting, and forecasting activitiesCoordinate fixed asset accounting and CAPEX trackingCompliance, Controls & AuditCoordinate annual audits and work with external auditorsPartner with external tax advisors on tax-related mattersEnsure compliance with regulatory and reporting requirementsQualifications:Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field7+ years of progressive accounting experienceStrong manufacturing accounting experience requiredPrior leadership experience managing or supervising accounting staffExperience with:Cost accountingFinancial reportingInventory managementInternal controlsBudgeting and forecastingStrong knowledge of US GAAPAdvanced Microsoft Excel skillsExperience with ERP systems such as JD Edwards or other manufacturing ERP systemsCPA or CMA certification preferredJapanese language skills and/or familiarity with Japanese business culture preferred
