Religion Professor

The Department of Religious Studies at Houston Graduate School of Theology seeks a dedicated and knowledgeable Religion Professor to join our faculty in guiding the next generation of scholars and practitioners in theology and religious studies. The successful candidate will be required to teach undergraduate and graduate courses on various religious traditions, their histories, philosophies, and social implications. This position involves engaging with students through lectures, discussions, and research supervision, while fostering an inclusive and respectful academic environment that values diverse perspectives on religion and spirituality. Demonstrated expertise in one or more religious traditions and theoretical frameworks of religious studies. Proven track record of teaching effectiveness at the college or university level. Strong research background with publications in scholarly journals or equivalent venues. Ability to engage students from diverse backgrounds and foster an inclusive classroom environment. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to work collaboratively with colleagues and students. Commitment to ongoing professional development and scholarly engagement in religious studies.Responsibilities Teach undergraduate and graduate courses in various aspects of religious studies. Develop and implement innovative curriculum and instructional strategies that engage students effectively. Advise and mentor students on academic and career pathways within and outside of religious studies. Conduct original research and publish findings in peer-reviewed journals to contribute to the academic community. Participate in departmental meetings, committees, and faculty governance to promote departmental objectives. Collaborate with faculty and students on interdisciplinary projects and research initiatives.
