Mechanical Engineer - Santa Clara CA Mechanical Engineer – Consumable Fluidic DevicesWe are developing a revolutionary, low-cost single-molecule DNA sequencer that can potentially improve the lives of people in a wide variety of ways, including timely screening for diseases and diagnosis of various cancers by fusing biological and integrated circuit technology.We are seeking a Mechanical Engineer to support development of consumable fluidic devices at Roche Santa Clara, with an educational and/or professional background in mechanical and/or process engineering. This candidate will be responsible for supporting consumable device components and surface chemistry teams in a variety of activities as needed.ResponsibilitiesFlowcell manufacturing, process development, and assemblyAssist senior engineers with SolidWorks designPerform dimensional and mechanical measurements, including data analysis and reportingConduct surface metrology and characterizationComponent testing, quality checks, and visual inspectionSample preparation for external analysisManage component and subcomponent inventory; prepare shipments and receive materialsSupport multiple engineering activities in a timely manner to meet project needsQualifications and SkillsAssociate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Materials Science, or a related discipline from an accredited institution0–2 years of professional experience required; hands-on lab experience preferredKnowledge or experience in microfabrication, microfluidics, or materials science is a plusProficiency in SolidWorks, Microsoft Excel, Google Sheets, or equivalent tools requiredFamiliarity with metrology or microscopy equipment is highly desirable.
