Major/Essential Functions
Provides patient care and diagnosis in all areas of Pediatrics to newborns, children and adolescents
Examines patients to determine the presence of disease and establishes preventive health practices
Determines nature and extent of disease or injury
Prescribes and administers medications and immunizations
Precepts medical students and residents in the clinic, newborn nursery and general pediatric wards
Supervises physician assistants in the clinical setting
Ensures compliance with HIPAA and billing regulations
Participates in research and scholarly activities within the Department of Pediatrics
Demonstrates professionalism in accordance with the Paul L. Foster School of Medicine's Declaration of Faculty Professional Responsibility
Participates in the education of medical students and residents of the Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center El Paso Paul L. Foster School of Medicine
Required Qualifications
M.D./D.O. degree or foreign medical equivalent degree
Successful completion of ACGME-accredited pediatrics residency program
Eligible for Texas medical license
Board-certified in General Pediatrics by the American Board of Pediatrics
Preferred Qualifications
Bilingual (English and Spanish preferred)
Established track record in clinical service, teaching and/or scholarship
Regional or emerging national reputation for the rank of associate professor or higher
