Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.Essential Duties and ResponsibilitiesThe Teachers Assistant will be responsible for but not limited to:assisting the lead teacher with the development, preparation, and implementation of lesson plans;reinforcing lessons by reviewing materials with students one-on-one or in small groups,overseeing students during non-classroom times, including lunch break, field trips, and outdoor activities;assisting lead teachers with the documentation of student progress and communication with parents;assisting the lead teacher with recordkeeping, such as daily attendance and calculating grades;participating in professional development, conferences and meetings.Report to the assigned teacher(s)CompetenciesThe potential candidate must continuously grow towards proficiency in instruction, teamwork, and professional development.To perform the job successfully, an individual will retain accountability for the following Key Result Areas (KRAs).Key Result Area #1: InstructionAssist the lead teacher with developing, preparing, and implementing lesson plans.Reinforce lessons by reviewing materials with students one-on-one or in small groups.Assist lead teachers with the documentation of student progress and communication with parents.Key Result Area # 2: TeamworkAssist the lead teacher with recordkeeping, such as daily attendance and calculating grades.Collaborate with the lead teacher to recognize students' issues and recommend solutions.Supervise students outside of the classroom, such as between classes, during lunch and recess, and field trips.Demonstrate effective communication and accountability to one another with clearly defined roles and responsibilities.Key Result Area # 3: Professional DevelopmentParticipates in workshops, conferences, academic courses, and other professional development activities related to the position.Attend all professional development sessions, parent conferences, and faculty meetings.Comply with state, organizational, and class rules and regulations.QualificationsEducation and/or Experience:Bachelors degree, Associate degree, High School diploma, or equivalent qualification. Solid understanding of classroom activities and teaching best practices. Must have a compassionate and positive attitude; excellent written and verbal communication skills.Physical DemandsThe physical demands described here represent those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
