Construction Supervisor/Assistant Superintendent
We are looking for a deadline-driven construction assistant superintendent to oversee our construction projects and to act as the link between various project parties. The assistant superintendent will assist the superintendent in leading and managing the on-site construction team and oversee all work on site. The assistant superintendent will be responsible for assisting the superintendent with on-site orderliness and ensuring compliance with safety regulations. You will assist the superintendent with ensuring quality standards are met, and all equipment and materials are available on-site at all times. You will liaise with inspection authorities regarding approvals.
Projects should be completed on time and within budget, and never compromised on quality. Top candidates will be strong leaders, pro-active, and perform well under pressure.
Assistant Superintendent Responsibilities:
Project Coordination: Assist the Superintendent in planning and scheduling construction activities to meet project timelines and deadlines. Coordinate with subcontractors, suppliers, and other vendors to ensure timely delivery of materials and services.
Monitor construction progress and provide regular updates to the Superintendent and project team.
Quality Control and Safety: Help enforce strict adherence to safety protocols and regulations on the construction site. Conduct regular safety inspections and ensure that proper safety measures are in place.
Assist in the implementation of quality control procedures to maintain construction standards.
On-Site Management: Oversee and manage daily on-site construction activities, including subcontractor performance and productivity. Address and resolve any issues or conflicts that may arise during construction. Monitor and report on the use of equipment and materials to ensure efficiency and cost-effectiveness.
Documentation: Maintain accurate and up-to-date construction documentation, including daily logs, progress reports, and site photos. Assist in the preparation and review of project documentation, such as permits, contracts, and change orders.
Communication: Facilitate communication between the construction team, subcontractors, and other stakeholders. Report progress and challenges to the Superintendent and other project leaders. Ensure that any changes or updates to construction plans are communicated effectively to relevant parties.
Cost Management: Assist in tracking project expenses and staying within budgetary constraints. Help identify cost-saving opportunities and more efficient construction methods.
Problem-Solving: Collaborate with the Superintendent to troubleshoot and resolve any construction-related issues. Proactively address potential problems that could impact the project's progress.
Subcontractor Management: Assist in evaluating subcontractor performance and ensuring they meet project requirements and deadlines. Help coordinate subcontractor schedules and activities.
Compliance and Regulations: Ensure compliance with local building codes, regulations, and permit requirements. Assist in obtaining necessary permits and approvals for the construction project.
Team Support: Provide support and assistance to the Superintendent and other team members as needed. Foster a positive and productive work environment on the construction site.
Assistant Superintendent Requirements:
3+ years experience as a construction superintendent.
Experience in commercial construction is a MUST.
Experience in aviation construction is a plus.
Proficient with MS Office Word and Excel.
Proficient with scheduling software, and CAE and CAD applications.
Proficient with taking and uploading digital photographs.
Ability to lift 40 pounds and to operate heavy equipment.
Ability to interpret and build according to drawings, specifications, and other documents.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Outstanding organizational skills.
