Senior Controls Engineer

Job DescriptionInsight Global is seeking an Advanced Senior Controls Engineer – Power Retrofits for a top power and water solutions client. This individual will play a critical role in modernizing power generation infrastructure through the design and delivery of advanced distributed control systems. The engineer will lead technically complex, high-visibility retrofit projects, working hands-on while serving as a trusted technical advisor to customers and engineering partners. This role offers the opportunity to shape engineering standards, mentor future experts, and leave a lasting technical legacy within the power generation industry.Day-to-day:Own the full application design and engineering execution of power retrofit projectsDeliver high quality engineering solutions that meet or exceed customer expectations for safety, quality, reliability, schedule, and performanceProvide strong technical leadership and direction to internal teams (local and global), customers, architect/engineering (A/E) firms, and project stakeholders, ensuring alignment on system design, technical requirements, and project objectivesParticipate as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) to strengthen technical capabilities, develop best practices, and mentor less experienced engineers across the organizationLead Design Review Meetings, Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT), and onsite system commissioningDevelop and track engineering plans and contribute to monthly project status reportingIdentify, recommend, and help implement improvements to engineering processes, tools, and productsCollaborate closely with project management, customers, and A/E firms to manage technical risks and resolve challengesSupport technical reviews, customer presentations, and proposal development as needed for strategic projectsMust Haves Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or equivalent experience9+ years of progressive engineering experience in the power generation industryStrong experience designing, implementing, or commissioning control systems using Distributed Controls Systems (DCS) and/or Programmable Logic Controller (PLC) platformsAbility to collaborate with senior engineers, project managers, customers, and A/E firmsWillingness to be based in the Greater Pittsburgh area or relocate, with the ability to travel up to 20% within North AmericaPluses Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical, Chemical, Mechanical, or Computer EngineeringExperience serving as a technical lead or subject matter expert on complex power generation projectsDeep familiarity with thermal or conventional power plant systems, operations, and modernization initiativesExperience mentoring engineers or contributing to engineering standards, best practices, or product strategy
