Job Summary: Under the direction of the Operations Director/Administrator, the Food Service Manager leads the food service department and is responsible for all aspects of the operation which serves up to 210 residents of our independent, assisted, and enhanced assisted living community. They play a crucial role in maintaining our reputation for excellent care and satisfaction by creating nutritious, appetizing, and appealing meals tailored to the needs of our community. Requirements: Typical job duties and responsibilities include but no limited to: Leads and oversees the daily operation of the dining services department that includes two kitchens and two dining rooms serving breakfast, lunch, and dinner. HOURS: Regular hours 8:00 a.m. until 5:00 p.m. Monday through Friday. Evenings and weekends as required. The kitchen is open from 6:00 a.m. until 7:00 p.m., 365 days a year, 7 days a week. Leads a team of a Food Service Coordinator, cooks, servers, and dishwashers. Hires, schedules, evaluates, disciplines food service staff, and facilitates a training program and competencies to all staff including servers, cooks, and dishwashers in collaboration with the Food Service Coordinator. Create and ensure policies and procedures for food handling, preparation and storage are in compliance with applicable regulations and being followed. Plans and prepares menus, oversees inventory, purchasing and vendor relationships to ensure consistent availability of high-quality ingredients and supplies within budgetary guidelines. Supervises food storage, production, inventory, and supplies. Assists to ensure food being plated is of a high quality for taste, temperature, appearance, and portion size for the residents. Ensures appropriate kitchen and dining equipment is maintained Adheres to all state and county regulations and best practices; adheres to sanitation standards. Maintains all records and reports necessary to comply with the State Department of Health. Ensures food preparation for optimal nutrition and economic handling of food. Plans menus, purchases food and supplies and assigns duties for special meals or occasions, such board meetings, recognition dinners, and related facility functions. Prepares departmental budget and ensures guidance and adherence on an annual basis. Collaborates with the team at Longview across departments. Qualifications: A college degree in food, nutrition, hospitality, management, or related education and 3 years of experience in the food industry with supervisory experience; or 5 plus years of experience in the food industry with supervisory experience. Experience with coaching and training employees preferred. Experience in a health care setting preferred.
