Digital Accessibility Associate (PDF Remediation Specialist)Location: Phoenix, AZ (Hybrid after training – initial onsite training required)Employment Type: Contract / Staff AugmentationDuration: 06/22/2026 – 10/30/2026Hours: 40/week (Mon–Fri, 7:00 AM – 5:00 PM)Work Mode: Remote after 1–2 weeks onsite trainingPosition OverviewThe Digital Accessibility Associate ensures government digital documents are accessible to all users, including individuals using assistive technologies such as screen readers. This role focuses on remediating PDF documents to meet WCAG 2.1 AA and PDF/UA accessibility standards, ensuring compliance and equal access to critical public information.You will convert and repair complex PDF files by adding proper structure, tags, reading order, and alternative text, making documents fully usable for individuals with disabilities.Key ResponsibilitiesRemediate PDF documents to meet WCAG 2.1 AA and PDF/UA compliance standardsAdd and correct document structure including:TagsReading orderHeading hierarchyLists and tablesWrite and apply alt text for images and graphicsIdentify and fix accessibility issues in complex document layoutsUse tools such as Adobe Acrobat Pro and GrackleEnsure documents are compatible with screen readers and assistive technologiesFollow strict accessibility guidelines and government compliance requirementsPerform quality checks to ensure accuracy and completeness of remediation workRequired Skills & QualificationsStrong attention to detail and accuracy in document formattingAbility to analyze document structure and logical reading flowComfortable working with software tools and learning new systems quicklyProcess-driven mindset with adherence to strict standards and guidelinesBasic understanding of digital documents (PDF structure, formatting, etc.)Nice-to-Have SkillsFamiliarity with HTML/CSS (understanding of tags like , structure, etc.)Knowledge of ADA Title II regulationsUnderstanding of WCAG 2.1 accessibility guidelinesExperience with Adobe Acrobat Pro and/or GrackleCertifications such as IAAP CPACC or related accessibility credentialsAdditional RequirementsMust be local to Phoenix, AZMust be available for onsite interviews (if required)Must complete 1–2 weeks onsite training before transitioning to remote workMust be able to start within 2 weeks of offerSecurity onboarding requiredMissionTo ensure all Arizonans have equal access to digital government resources by making documents accessible, readable, and compliant with accessibility standards.
