Transactional Tax Analyst (Indirect Tax)The Opportunity Our client is a growing oil and gas exploration and production company with an expanding operational footprint in the Appalachian Basin. As the organization continues to scale, they are building out a more sophisticated tax function and are seeking a Transactional Tax Analyst to support and shape their indirect tax operations.This role sits within the Corporate Finance and Tax team and carries meaningful ownership. You'll be responsible for transactional tax compliance, audit support, and tax technology management while helping define and refine the structure, processes, and controls that support the company's indirect tax obligations. This is an excellent opportunity for an ambitious tax professional who wants hands-on responsibility and visibility in a growing environment.Location Hybrid position based in Morgantown, with an expectation of working onsite three days per week.What You'll Be DoingPrepare and file transactional tax returns and reports, including annual reports, business licenses, sales and use, severance, property, and state-specific taxesManage payments related to indirect and transactional tax filingsPrepare account reconciliations, analyze transactional tax accruals, and record adjusting journal entriesCompile and provide data in support of state and local tax audits and inquiriesAssist with tax-related integration activities tied to mergers and acquisitionsDevelop, maintain, and enhance documentation for transactional tax processes and controlsManage internal and external audit requests related to indirect taxesCoordinate and manage relationships with third-party tax service providers and consultantsMaintain and support tax technology interfaces and configurations across business systemsIdentify opportunities to improve efficiency, accuracy, and scalability through technology and process enhancementsWhat Our Client Is Looking ForBachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline2+ years of progressive experience in corporate tax or public accountingStrong proficiency in Microsoft Office and data analytics tools; experience with Quorum and BlackLine strongly preferredExposure to data analytics tools or robotic process automation (RPA) platforms is a plusHigh level of integrity with the ability to manage confidential and sensitive financial informationStrong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to explain tax matters to non-tax stakeholdersDemonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities and meet regulatory deadlinesCollaborative, growth-minded professional eager to take on expanded responsibility as the tax function evolves
