ASC Nurse Manager
Responsibilities & Essential Functions
Monitor and manage all aspects of the ASC’s operations as a means of continuously improving the patient experience and ensuring that every patient encounter is positive.
Ensure compliance with all accreditation standards, OSHA regulations, maintain State Certifications and AAAHC Accreditation.
Collaborate with the ASC Administrator to represent the ASC with accrediting bodies before, during and after site visits.
Support the ASC Administrator in the development of annual budgets and the management of the variables that contribute to strong financial performance
In conjunction with the Administrator, analyze the ASC’s room and staff utilization and champion opportunities for improvement.
Contribute to a just culture that fosters respect, trust, and open dialog.
Be a reliable presence in the ASC and conduct regular staff meetings to provide information and solicit feedback.
Manage, coach and mentor staff by example and through use of clearly communicated expectations, progress meetings and performance reviews.
Develop and maintain a constructive working relationship with the ASC’s Medical Director.
Provide nursing relief in the perioperative and surgical areas, as needed.
Analytical skills necessary to analyze the ASC workload requirements, plan and schedule nursing staff to meet the needs of the ASC, and to identify and resolve problems and administer available resources effectively.
Monitor daily operating activity of the ASC such as staff productivity and daily surgery schedule,
Develop and maintain clinical competencies and ensure safe nursing practices are performed
Coordinate anesthesia staffing
Oversee Centralized Sterile Processing Department
Maintain expertise in use of EMR and Inventory Management system
Actively participate in and lead activities associated with the Quality Assurance and Process Improvement (QAPI) Program
Infection Control

Qualifications
BSN from accredited school of nursing required
CNOR preferred
Current, unencumbered Maine RN license or current license with Nursing Compact state and ability to attain Maine License within 30 days of employment
ACLS and PALS preferred, must obtain within 6 months of hire
Minimum of five years surgical nursing experience including two years supervisory level experience
Interpersonal skills necessary to direct and assign work to team members, explain ASC and InterMed policies and procedures and communicate effectively with ASC physicians and staff when identifying and resolving problems
Knowledge and skills to implement and monitor Standard of Practice and Nursing Law
Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint) is required as well as the ability to quickly learn and retain knowledge of how to use the electronic medical record.

Physical Demands
Average shift involves: standing, walking, bending, reaching – 75%, sitting – 25%
Ability to grasp with both hands; pinch with thumb and forefinger; turn with hand/arm;
Reach above shoulder height.
Ability to listen and speak on the telephone and write simultaneously.
Ability to operate multi-line telephone system; computer keyboard and printer.
Vision - adequate to perform the essential functions of the job such as read medication orders, medical charts, etc.
Hearing - adequate to perform the essential functions of the job such as communicating with patients and physicians.
Speaking - adequate to perform the essential functions of the job such as communicating with patients, family members and physicians.
Dexterity - adequate to perform the essential functions of the job such as administering medication, assisting physicians.
Mental Demands - adequate to perform the essential functions of the job such as unpleasant patients (stress, violence, etc.)
Working Conditions:
Position requires work in a medical facility where exposure to bodily fluids is likely.
Personal protective equipment is required.
Knowledge of hazardous materials safe handling and universal precautions is essential.
