Overview In this role you will lead performance engineering for enterprise Java-based systems, guiding architecture decisions and optimization initiatives. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify tuning opportunities, define performance processes, and mentor staff. The focus is on delivering scalable, cost-efficient improvements across complex WebSphere and SOA applications. This position offers the chance to shape performance best practices and contribute to enterprise IT solutions at scale. ResponsibilitiesLead performance tuning and capacity planning for complex web applicationsPerform deep-dive analysis of code/configurations to identify tuning opportunities and implement solutionsDefine and onboard performance processes and guidelines for technology teamsMentor and lead internal consulting staff and teams on performance topicsDrive architecture discussions and define new architectures for enterprise systemsProduce thought leadership, white papers, and technical guidance on performance optimizationCollaborate with cross-functional teams to implement cost-efficient virtualization and optimization techniquesSupport quick onboarding to a proprietary Java-based Policy Admin System for performance issues Key requirements7+ years in technology consulting, enterprise and solutions architecture7+ years Core Java, J2EE applications7+ years WebSphere (WAS) configuration commands and performance tuning7+ years Performance tuning of complex web apps and SOA (SOAP Web Services)7+ years in RDBMS and SQL tuning, JVM heap/memory, thread dump, network latency analysisExperience with URL profiling using browser tools (F12)Deep-dive code and configuration analysis with solutioning, experience with APM tools (Dynatrace) is a plusAbility to set up performance-related processes/guidelines and onboard teams5+ years project executionExperience defining new architectures and driving projects architecturally7+ years thought leadership and mentoring staff and internal teamsleadershipmentoringproblem-solvingJava technologiesJ2EEWebSphere (WAS)
