Schedule is subject to change based on warehouse volume and operational needsDepartment: Grocery / Dry GoodsLocation: 1500 Brooks Ave, Rochester, NYCompetitive Salary: $64,000 Requirement: A valid driver’s license is required for this role. Unfortunately, we are unable to proceed further with your application without it.What You’ll OwnAs a Department Manager, you are the decision-maker on the floor. You’ll lead unloading operations, direct your team, and ensure every shift runs safely, efficiently, and on time.Direct daily warehouse operations and unloading activities Assign work, manage workflows, and ensure timely completion of all loads Lead, coach, and develop associates, leads, and backup leads Drive hiring, promotions, and performance management decisions Ensure accurate and timely reporting of daily operational activity Partner with operations leadership, customers, and transportation teams Maintain compliance with all FHI policies, procedures, and safety standards How You’ll Make An ImpactSuccess in this role is measured by outcomes—not activity.Improve retention and reduce turnover year over year Strengthen safety performance and reduce DART rates Meet or exceed contribution margin and operating income targets Maintain or improve workers’ compensation and direct labor costs What Sets You ApartYou lead with accountability, organization, and follow-through.You take ownership and ensure things get done You prioritize effectively in a fast-moving environment You hold yourself and your team to high standards You invest in your team’s growth and development You lead with safety and set the tone on the floor You communicate clearly across teams and levels Day-to-Day LeadershipRun daily huddles to align the team on goals and assignments Monitor performance and adjust workflows in real time Conduct safety inspections and enforce safe work practices Ensure clean, organized, and hazard-free work areas Verify load accuracy and completion Oversee timekeeping, audits, and approvals Train and mentor team members to build bench strength What You BringExperience in warehouse, distribution, or unloading operations 1+ years of leadership experience (preferred) Strong communication and problem-solving skills Ability to manage people, production, and priorities simultaneously Basic math and attention to detail Valid driver’s license We believe that skills and experience are what truly matter.
