Site Manager - Racking

Salary: $100,000 - $110,000Location: Romeoville, IL or Remote (with regular site travel)The employer specialises in the warehouse storage, racking, and automated storage solutions industry and is recognised for delivering high-density, high-precision storage systems that maximise warehouse capacity and efficiency. They have an exciting opportunity for a Site Manager to join their growing US operation. This role is well-suited to a hands-on, safety-focused leader who is looking to take ownership of on-site project execution and deliver complex installations successfully.This position sits within the Project Delivery / Site Operations department and reports to the Project Manager. You will oversee all on-site activities during the assembly and construction phase of racking and automated storage systems, ensuring safety, quality, budget, and schedule compliance.ResponsibilitiesQuality, Health, Safety, Environment & ComplianceEnsure all on-site activities are carried out safely and in line with company QSHE standardsEnforce project-specific safety plans and compliance with OSHA/OHSA regulationsPromote a culture of Lean working and continuous improvementMaintain a safe, efficient, and high-quality working environment at all timesProject & Site ManagementSupport Project Managers and Project Engineers with overall project executionSupervise and coordinate subcontractor personnel on siteLead daily, weekly, and monthly site coordination and activity planningReview and discuss drawings and technical documentation with subcontractors and foremenMonitor project progress, quality, and costs, initiating corrective actions where requiredIdentify project risks early and elevate issues to relevant stakeholdersManage on-site material receiving and equipment certificationTrack potential delays and proactively mitigate schedule risksMaintain adherence to project budgets and timelinesTake ownership of site performance and resultsAdministration & ReportingProvide accurate and timely reports to managementReview and analyse bills of materialsEnsure all project documentation is current, accurate, and properly archivedTrack variations, claims, and delays in line with contract agreementsCommunicate any project changes from clients or subcontractors to the Project ManagerTraining & DevelopmentConduct on-site safety training and toolbox talksShare technical expertise with project and engineering teamsParticipate in internal training programs as requiredContinuously develop and maintain relevant technical knowledge and leadership skillsRequirementsExperience managing on-site installation or construction activities within racking, warehouse automation, or material handling environmentsStrong understanding of health & safety regulations and site compliance requirementsProven ability to manage subcontractors and coordinate multi-discipline teamsAbility to read and interpret technical drawings and project documentationStrong organisational, communication, and problem-solving skillsWillingness to travel to project sites as requiredReasons why you should applyPlay a key role in delivering large-scale, high-density warehouse storage projectsHigh level of ownership and responsibility on-siteHow to ApplyFor more information on the role, please contact Tara Gain - T.Gain@proactiveglobal.comWhy work with Proactive?Proactive Global is an industry leading, specialist engineering recruitment agency focused on the automation, manufacturing and advanced technology sectors.
