Job Title: Associate DesignerJob DescriptionWe are seeking an enthusiastic Associate Designer to join our dynamic team in Sanford. This entry-level position involves producing design-related documents to ensure the scope of the fire protection system is fully communicated to the installation personnel at the assigned job site. During the initial six months, you will undergo training, shadow other designers, learn the software, and perform CAD work under supervision. You will also participate in field surveys and visit job sites to gain practical understanding.Responsibilities+ Review contract documents prior to Pre-Design Meeting and establish questions for clarification.+ Participate in Pre-Design to provide input for job planning.+ Establish, communicate, and meet working drawing completion dates to adhere to the fabrication schedule.+ Prepare detailed working drawings in accordance with contract documents/scope of work. Obtain necessary design reviews from sales and management during the design process.+ Perform necessary communication and coordination with other trades to ensure accuracy of shop drawings.+ Prepare anticipated material list to allow adequate procurement time.+ Prepare material submittals and secure approvals from required authorities.+ Prepare drawing submittals and secure permits and approvals from required authorities.+ Participate in Pre-Construction Meetings.+ Monitor and manage the flow and cost of materials to maintain the project schedule and budget.+ Prepare and provide 'as built' plans and design-related close-out documents, as required by contract documents.+ Maintain compliance with all company and state/federal safety standards, regulations, equipment, and procedures.+ Properly maintain all company tools and equipment, and immediately report any problems to the Design Manager.+ Participate in a minimum of 8 hours of continuing education per year.Essential Skills+ Proficiency in AutoCAD and CAD drafting.+ Associates degree or certification in CAD drafting.+ Experience or training in AutoCAD, MEP, fire protection, design, engineering, and HydroCAD.Additional Skills & Qualifications+ Ability to use technology including cell phones, voicemail, email, personal computer, office software, and technical software.Work EnvironmentThe position is based in an office environment, reporting to the Design Manager and Operations Manager. The Sanford office houses over 100 employees, including office and field personnel, with the Design Department comprising 9 team members.
