Job SummaryRSC Mechanical is seeking an experienced Construction Journeyman to join its team in Atlanta, GA. This skilled, hands-on technician will be responsible for installing, repairing, and troubleshooting commercial refrigeration and HVAC systems for new construction and renovation projects. The role requires strong HVAC construction experience, the ability to read blueprints and plans, work independently, and complete high-quality installations with minimal supervision.This is a field-focused position ideal for someone who takes ownership of their work, adapts quickly to challenges, and keeps projects moving safely and efficiently.Key ResponsibilitiesInstallation & ConstructionInstall commercial refrigeration and HVAC systems, including piping, walk-ins, evaporators, and rack systemsSet and assemble walk-in boxes and refrigeration fixturesInstall and verify operation of glycol and refrigeration systemsRead and follow blueprints, schematics, and construction drawings to ensure accurate installationPerform layout and installation work with minimal directionTroubleshooting & Repairs Diagnose and repair mechanical, electrical, and control system issuesPerform system startups, pump-downs, and operational checksIdentify leaks and complete repairs following proper proceduresWork with controllers (E2/Danfoss) including defrost cycles and system adjustmentsIndependent Work & Job Ownership Work independently on assigned scopes of work and job sitesManage time, materials, and tasks to stay on scheduleTake responsibility for quality, accuracy, and completion of workSupport overall job progress without needing constant supervisionTechnical & Safety Weld and braze using open-flame methodsSafely handle refrigerants and hazardous materials in compliance with EPA standardsOperate hand tools, power tools, lifts, and job site equipment safelyFollow OSHA safety requirements and company safety policies at all timesCoordination & Communication Communicate with supervisors, contractors, and team members on job progress and issuesCoordinate with other trades to avoid delays and conflictsComplete work tickets, time sheets, and job documentation accuratelyMaintain a professional presence on customer job sitesQualifications High school diploma or equivalentJourneyman-level experience in HVAC construction requiredProven experience installing, repairing, and troubleshooting HVAC/R systemsStrong ability to read and interpret blueprints and construction documentsAbility to work independently with minimal supervisionStrong mechanical aptitude and problem-solving skillsExperience in supermarket refrigeration systems preferredValid driver's license with a clean driving recordSchedule & Travel Requirements Full-time, with flexibility to work nights, weekends, and travel as required.Must be available to respond to urgent equipment or job site issues as needed.Approximately 90% travelOvernight and multi-day travel may be requiredBenefits Company Vehicle, Gas Card & Cell Phone - Get dispatched straight from home with no daily shop check-in.Hands-On, Paid Training - Build confidence and skill in the field with experienced support from day one.Affordable Health Benefits - Medical, dental, and vision plans that won't break the bank.Pet insurance - Because we care about your whole family.401(k) with 5% Company Match - Fully vested from day one.PTO and Holiday Pay - Recharge with PTO and enjoy 6 paid holidays.Weekly Paydays - Competitive hourly pay based on experience.Exclusive Employee Perks - Free legal, financial, and mental health services.
