RAs serve as frontline mentors and role models, contributing to a safe, inclusive, and structured residential environment. Through consistent supervision, relationship-building, and collaboration with Dorm Parents and the Residential Life Team, RAs help promote accountability, positive decision-making, and community engagement among students.Residential Advisors play a vital role in daily residential operations and student support, ensuring that EF Academy’s boarding values are lived and experienced by students every day.Professional Qualifications And QualitiesExperience working with adolescents in educational, residential, camp, or care-taking environmentsInterest in student well-being, mentorship, and community buildingCommitment to contributing positively to a boarding school environmentStrong communication, organization, and interpersonal skillsComfort working with a diverse, international student populationWillingness to work non-traditional hours (evenings, weekends, overnight shifts)Team-oriented mindset and ability to follow guidance from senior residential staffKey ResponsibilitiesStudent Support & SupervisionSupport the supervision of boarding students within assigned residence hallsAssist with daily routines, including evening check-ins, study halls, curfews, and weekend coverageMonitor student behavior and well-being, reporting concerns through Orah and to supervising staffRespond appropriately to student needs, concerns, or emergencies while on dutySupport medical needs by assisting with logistics and communication as directedEnforce residential policies consistently and professionallyCommunity & Relationship BuildingBuild positive, respectful relationships with students through regular interaction and presenceFoster an inclusive and supportive residential community where students feel seen and valuedSupport community-building activities and residence-based programmingServe as a point of contact for students during assigned duty hoursEncourage positive peer interactions and healthy conflict resolutionParticipate in hall meetings and residential activitiesCollaborate with Dorm Parents, faculty, and other Residential Life staffRole Modeling & Student DevelopmentModel responsible behavior, professionalism, and healthy boundariesReinforce expectations related to conduct, self-care, and community responsibilitySupport restorative conversations and conflict resolution under guidance from Dorm ParentsEncourage student leadership, independence, and accountabilityAssist with student orientation, arrivals, departures, and transitionsPromote cultural awareness and respect within the residential communityWorking Hours & ExpectationsThis is a full-time hourly residential position--candidate must live on campusRequires evening, weekend, and overnight duty shifts on a rotating scheduleParticipation in student arrival/departure days, special events, and emergency coverage as neededPublic holiday staffing may be required based on residential needs.RAs may be assigned additional responsibilities that support residential life operations, including but not limited to driving academy vehicles, campus roaming, student space coverage beyond residential hallsAbout EF Education FirstEF Academy is a leading private boarding and day high school, attracting students from around the world to our campuses in Pasadena, New York, and Oxford (England).
