They are looking for interesting, independent thinkers and doers who can help shape the culture of a forward-looking company that’s proud of its rich legacy.Project/Position Summary:The Project Construction Organization’s Coastal Virginia Offshore Wind (CVOW) project is seeking a mid-career to senior level Electrical Engineer to join their offshore wind engineering team. CVOW, the largest project of its kind in the United States, is a 2,600 MW wind farm located 27 miles off the coast of Virginia Beach consisting of 176 wind turbines, three 880 MW offshore substations, and all the associated high-voltage subsea cabling.As part of the CVOW Engineering team, the successful candidate will work closely with the project managers, internal and external stakeholders, and package suppliers to support the design, fabrication, installation, and commissioning of offshore wind projects.Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:As part of the CVOW Engineering team, the lead electrical engineer works closely with the CVOW project managers, internal and external stakeholders, and package suppliers to support the design, fabrication, installation, and commissioning of offshore wind projects.Perform as lead technical contact (SME) on HV/MV electrical systems and equipment. Perform walkdowns, inspections, and verifications of said systems in the field and/or on site when necessary.Evaluate equipment proposals to ensure conformance with project specifications and grid requirements.Work with suppliers and contractors to review and comment on project documentation (system design, engineering drawings, method statements, inspection and test plans, non-conformance reports, etc.). Assess design-level documentation with field installations when necessary.Coordinate document reviews and technical query responses with internal SMEs (corporate engineering, IT, regulatory compliance teams, etc.).Interface with Owner’s Engineer and Package Managers to lead electrical engineering support.Own the RFI process with suppliers and partners to support the initiation, tracking and resolution of technical queries.Provide electrical interface support across various project packages (wind turbine generators, foundations, offshore substations, transportation and installation, and onshore grid connection) – including onsite engineering support, walkdowns, and inspections.Resolve technical challenges to support achieving the project schedule and budget requirements.Develop or improve processes to enable efficient engineering support of offshore wind projects.Perform other duties as requested or assigned.The ideal candidate will possess experience providing engineering support to the project management of large, utility-scale projects.Required Knowledge, Skills, Abilities & Experience7+ years of relevant engineering experience; plant modeling and computational analysis experience plus.In-depth knowledge of engineering theories, principles and practices in a broad variety of assignments and related fields.Knowledge of business/financial and contractual matters.Recognized expert by other engineers and management.Provides expert technical consultation to other engineers and management.Skilled in the use of advanced engineering techniques.Strong planning and project management skills.Strong technical and organizational leadership skills.Strong oral and written communication skills (including technical writing).In depth knowledge of various computer applications, with the ability to manipulate personal computer applications and perform engineering calculations using applicable software programs (e.g. Excel, PSSE, PSCAD, Matlab, etc.).Proven decision-making skills.Ability to think analytically and solve complex problems.Ability to interpret codes, regulations and practices.Ability to process information quickly and effectively manage multiple tasks.Equally effective working independently or in team environmentAdditionally, the successful candidate for this position will have knowledge of:Three-phase power systemsWind turbine generatorsHigh-voltage transformersSubstation designSwitchgearHigh-voltage cablingAuxiliary systemsPJM grid requirements and interconnection analyses – planning-level and energy-injection studies`NERC compliance requirementsEducation RequirementsDegree required (equivalence not accepted in lieu of degree): Bachelor's degree in Electrical EngineeringLicenses, Certifications, or Quals DescriptionPreferred:Professional Engineer (PE)Other:Depending on functional responsibilities and location of position, must review ANS 3.1 12/79, ANSI N18.1-1971 or ANSI/ANS 3.1-1993 and DOM-QA-1 as appropriate.
