General Manager - Charter & Airport Shuttle Operations

The General Manager (GM) is responsible for the overall financial performance, growth, and operational excellence of a dual-business transportation location consisting of charter services and scheduled airport shuttle operations.Salary Range: $115,000 - $130,000 + Bonus This role is a hands-on leadership position with a primary focus on:Revenue growth and business developmentCost control and margin improvementOperational execution and service reliabilityLeadership, accountability, and talent developmentThe General Manager will lead the turnaround of an underperforming location, drive new charter and shuttle revenue, strengthen local market relationships, and ensure operational standards, safety, and customer experience are consistently met.The General Manager directly manages the Operations Manager and is expected to carry operational responsibilities in situations requiring additional leadership support, including staffing gaps, high-demand periods, or performance deficiencies.Key ResponsibilitiesFinancial Performance & P&L OwnershipOwn full P&L responsibility for both charter and airport shuttle operationsDevelop and execute short- and long-term plans to improve profitability and cash flowAnalyze revenue, labor, fleet utilization, and operating costs; implement corrective actionsEstablish and track KPIs related to revenue growth, margin, on-time performance, customer satisfaction, and safetyBusiness Development & Revenue Growth (Primary Focus)Lead local business development efforts to grow charter revenue, including: Corporate accountsUniversities and schoolsAthletic teamsTourism, hotels, event venues, and conventionsBuild and maintain strong relationships with: Airport authorities and vendorsHotels, travel coordinators, and tourism partnersCorporate and institutional decision-makersIdentify opportunities to increase shuttle ridership through: Schedule optimizationLocal partnershipsPricing and promotional strategies (in coordination with corporate)Act as the senior local representative of the company in the marketOperational Leadership & ExecutionProvide oversight and accountability for all daily operations across charter and shuttle servicesDirectly manage the Operations Manager, ensuring: Effective staffing and schedulingFleet readiness and maintenance complianceOn-time performance and service qualityOperation Management: Staffing and scheduling decisionsDispatch supporton-call leadership presenceEnsure consistent execution of company policies, procedures, and service standardsDrive continuous improvement in operational processes, productivity, and reliabilitySafety, Compliance & Risk ManagementMaintain full compliance with DOT, airport authority, and local/state regulationsChampion a strong safety-first culture, including: Accident prevention and responseDrug & alcohol testing complianceSafety meetings and training reinforcementEnsure fleet safety, cleanliness, and branding standards are metPartner with corporate Safety, HR, and Legal teams as requiredPeople Leadership & CultureSet clear expectations, goals, and accountability for the Operations Manager and leadership teamAddress employee relations issues in partnership with HRFoster a culture of ownership, accountability, customer focus, and continuous improvementReporting & CommunicationEnsure accurate and timely reporting of: Revenue and KPIsPayroll and labor controlsSafety and compliance documentationCommunicate regularly with regional and corporate leadership on performance, risks, and opportunitiesTranslate corporate strategy into effective local executionQualifications & ExperienceBachelor's degree in Business, Transportation, Operations, or related field (or equivalent experience)7+ years of progressive leadership experience in transportation, logistics, hospitality, or a service-driven, multi-site environmentProven experience with: P&L managementBusiness development or sales leadershipTurnaround or underperforming operationsStrong understanding of: DOT and transportation safety regulationsLabor management and schedulingFleet-based operationsDemonstrated ability to: Lead through changeBalance strategic growth with hands-on executionBuild external relationships that drive revenueHigh level of financial acumen and operational disciplineProficient with scheduling, reservation, and reporting systemsExcellent communication, leadership, and decision-making skillsPhysical & Other RequirementsAbility to work flexible hours, including early mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays as requiredTravel <25%Must pass background and drug screeningAbility to communicate effectively in English
