SummaryThe Manufacturing Technician is responsible for all activities related to the encapsulation of pharmaceutical, soft gelatin products as per formula instructions. Also, responsible for adhering to the Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and current Good Manufacturing Practices ( cGMPs ) that are in effect, assuring the quality and quantity of products produced.Key ResponsibilitiesSets up equipment- Encapsulation Machine, including Tumble Drying, Drying Tunnel, and Printing Machine, Capsule Sorting Machine, Inspection Belt, and any other equipment required for soft gelatin manufacturing The Manufacturing Technician is a hands-on position where the individual has mastered operation and troubleshooting as well as basic maintenance of a soft gelatin encapsulation machineEnsures the efficient and quality standards for the operation of soft gelatin machinery. Responsible for soft gelatin equipment cleanings, set-ups, and changeovers. Provides technical support for staff for equipment and processesTroubleshoot machines as needed during the production run as a priority to minimize downtime.Performs or verifies batch record entries. Ensure batch records, equipment logbooks, and other relevant records are up to dateMonitors process and equipment, making necessary adjustments as needed or required, to maintain batch record specifications. Ensure that the equipment in the department is cleaned properly before starting the setup of a new lot of productsSpecializes in process troubleshooting of soft gelatin process on the soft gelatin Encapsulation Machine.Must be familiar with In-Process Testing Equipment and should be able to test soft gelatin for seam thickness, hardness, burst strength, weight, etc., using testing equipment to ensure quality productio.Additional duties, such as Bottle Packaging, Supporting Formulations, and Research and Development, as requiredEducation And ExperienceHigh school diploma or GED required1-3 years' experience in a GMP-compliant manufacturing settingAssociate’s degree or College/Trade school creditsKnowledge, Skills, And AbilitiesKnowledge of Lean Manufacturing principles is a plusKnowledge and understanding of GMPs and a pharmaceutical manufacturing plant with experience in packaging or manufacturing is strongly preferredAbility to read and interpret documents such as standard operating procedures, safety rules, company policies, maintenance instructions, and equipment manualsAbility to communicate effectively with both supervisors and co-workersAbility to accurately calculate figures, both standard and metricProblem-solving skillsKnowledge of other oral solid dose manufacturing technologies is a plusBasic computer skills (Desktop Software) are required. Ability to work overtime as required. (Late nights and weekends) Physical/ Work Environment/ ExpectationsTravel may be required for this positionThis position works within a GMP Manufacturing Environment, office environment, and inside the plant.Must be able to work in controlled environments requiring special gowningWill be required to follow gowning requirements and wear Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) over head, face, hands, and armsNo make-up, jewelry, contact lenses, nail polish or artificial fingernails may be worn in these work environments.Pace may be fast, and job completion demands may be high While performing the duties, the employee is frequently required to sit, stand, walk, and reach with hands and arms; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; and see, talk, and hear. The employee must occasionally lift or move up to 50 pounds.
