EHS Technician
Job DescriptionJob Title: EHS Technician FLSA: Non-ExemptReport to: Quality & Safety ManagerDOT/NON-DOT: NON-DOTSalary Range: $17 - $20Department: QualityStatus: Full TimePosition Summary:The EHS Technician is responsible for supporting Avex's safety management efforts by inspecting,observing, and reporting on safe work practices across the facility. This role plays a key part in ensuringcompliance with safety standards and fostering a culture of safety in all operations.In this position, you will partner with Process Owners to oversee job site safety, identify potential hazards,recommend mitigations, and reinforce Avex's safety expectations. You will communicate and collaborateeffectively with supervisors, employees, and teams to promote safe work practices and provide clearguidance on daily tasks and responsibilities.The EHS Technician also ensures timely reporting of safety concerns and incidents to the Quality & SafetyManager, helping to maintain a safe, productive, and compliant work environment.Job Duties and Responsibilities• Routinely conduct worksite observations. (Including at least two shift cross-over working days)• Report all observation results to the Safety Manager and appropriate Process Owner(s)• Observe equipment movement and work activities at the job site• Observe employee adherence to PPE and Avex Safety policies• Visually inspect safety equipment (clearance to fire extinguishers, etc.)• Visually inspect waste totes for proper packaging, signage etc. and complete Haz Waste Reports• Monitor Spill Kit inventory• Activate and visually inspect working condition of eyewash stations weekly• Inspect job site for hazards (e.g. exposed wiring, broken equipment, trip hazards etc.)• Assist in transporting injured employees to the clinic• Maintain confidentiality• Adhere to Avex Safety Policies and promote Safety Culture• Participate in Safety Committee Meetings and activities when possible.• Spot check SDS availability and response time• Other duties as assigned by the Quality & Safety Manager• Computer skills required for data entry, reporting, scanning and tracking.• Weekend and shift work as needed.Work ExperienceRequirements:• Academic Qualifications : High School Diploma or GED required• Valid/Unexpired Driver's License• Must demonstrate proficiency in reading, writing, and speaking English to effectively perform safety-sensitive duties in compliance with FAA regulations. Spanish language skills are a valuable asset.
