The company continues to build its reputation as a trusted partner for superior transportation services.Role DescriptionThis is a full-time, on-site role for a General Manager based in Atlanta, GA. The General Manager (GM) is responsible for the overall leadership, operational excellence, safety, and financial performance of the company. This role oversees daily operations, fleet management, safety and regulatory compliance, customer satisfaction, and staff performance to ensure services are delivered safely, efficiently, and profitably in alignment with company goals and contractual requirements.Essential Duties & ResponsibilitiesOperations & Service DeliveryDirect and oversee daily transportation operations including dispatch, routing, scheduling, and driver performance.Ensure consistent on-time performance, service reliability, and adherence to Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).Resolve operational issues and service disruptions promptly and professionally.Safety & Regulatory ComplianceEnsure compliance with all applicable DOT, FMCSA, state, airport, and client regulations.Oversee driver qualification, training, and ongoing safety programs.Investigate accidents and incidents, implement corrective actions, and reduce risk exposure.Fleet & Maintenance OversightEnsure fleet availability, preventive maintenance compliance, and vehicle safety standards.Coordinate repair approvals, maintenance scheduling, and vehicle replacement planning to minimize downtime.Financial & Budget ManagementWork with finance department to manage operating budgets, labor costs, fuel expenses, and maintenance spending.Monitor key performance metrics and support contract profitability.Review and approve expenses within authorized limits for operations, fleet maintenance, and HR.Leadership & Human ResourcesLead, coach, and hold accountable management and frontline staff.Support recruiting, onboarding, training, performance evaluations, and disciplinary actions.Promote a culture of safety, professionalism, accountability, and customer service.Oversee systems implementation.Customer & Vendor RelationsAddress client concerns, participate in audits and performance reviews, and ensure contract compliance.Maintain strong relationships to support contract retention and growth.Develop and maintain strong relationships with vendors to save company money.Reporting & Continuous ImprovementPrepare and present operational and financial performance reports to ownership.Use data and KPIs to drive efficiency, safety improvements, and service quality. QualificationsMinimum 8-10 years of leadership experience in ground transportation, logistics, or fleet operations.Strong knowledge of DOT and transportation safety regulations.Proven experience managing teams, budgets, and multi-site operations.Excellent leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.Proficient in transportation management systems and reporting tools.Customer service and relationship management skills to ensure client satisfaction.Financial oversight skills, including budgeting and reporting.Strong problem-solving, organizational, and time-management abilities.Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Management, or a related field preferred.Prior experience in transportation, logistics, or a similar industry is beneficial.
