On-Call Courier Driver (Independent Contractor)

Job Description: We are looking for a dependable 1099 Courier Driver to assist with on-call deliveries, including local and out-of-town runs. This role is ideal for an independent contractor who is flexible, responsive, and able to handle time-sensitive deliveries on short notice. YOU MUST USE YOUR OWN VEHICLE FOR THIS POSITION. Responsibilities: Pick up and deliver packages safely and on time Be available on an on-call basis, including nights and weekends Complete local, regional, and out-of-town deliveries as needed Communicate clearly with dispatch regarding availability and delivery status Follow all traffic laws and delivery procedures Maintain professionalism with customers and clients Requirements: Valid driver’s license and clean driving record Reliable, fuel efficient vehicle suitable for courier work Proof of insurance $100,000/$300,00 Bodily Liability Ability to travel out of town when needed Smartphone with GPS and communication capability Dependable, punctual, and professional Responsibilities Safely operate box trucks and other commercial vehicles, including manual transmission models, adhering to all traffic laws and safety regulations. Load and unload packages using equipment such as pallet jacks or forklifts when necessary, ensuring proper handling of goods. Execute route driving efficiently, following designated delivery schedules while maintaining a focus on timeliness and accuracy. Provide excellent customer service by communicating professionally with clients during deliveries and pickups. Manage the loading process, including heavy lifting and moving items of various sizes, ensuring secure placement for transit. Maintain accurate delivery logs, route documentation, and incident reports as required for operational transparency. Conduct routine vehicle inspections to ensure safety standards are met before each trip. Qualifications Proven experience as a delivery driver or courier, with familiarity in route planning and navigation tools. Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record; experience operating box trucks or similar commercial vehicles preferred. Ability to perform heavy lifting and manual handling of packages safely and efficiently. Warehouse experience or familiarity with loading equipment such as forklifts or pallet jacks is a plus. Strong customer service skills with the ability to communicate clearly and professionally. Knowledge of traffic laws, safety procedures, and best practices for load & unload operations.
