Production Supervisor
Chroma in McHenry, IL is seeking ONE 2nd Shift Production Supervisor & ONE 3rd Shift Production Supervisor for our production environment.
Hours for 2nd: 4pm to 2:30am Hours for 3rd: 10pm to 8:30am- Monday through Thursday, 10 hour shifts which may change to 8 hour days 5 days a week.
Pay $29.00 an hour PLUS $1.25 Shift Differential = $30.25 an hour. ** we will pay more for experience.
We mix and pigment resin as we are a color house that makes colored pellets that we give to our customer. Experience in Plastics puts you at a competitive advantage.

Essential Duties:
Comply with and enforce all EHS requirements and company policies and procedures.
Ensure processes, work areas, equipment, and behavior put safety first, prioritizing injury prevention. Take a leadership role in safety improvement initiatives throughout the department and facility.
Promote a safe work environment by implementing “Stop, Think, and Ask” behaviors with all team members.
Set goals for team members and provide periodic feedback against goals; conduct timely performance reviews; issue disciplinary warnings in coordination wwith HR and upper management as needed and provide corrective coaching/counseling.
Direct team members’ activities on a daily basis to meet department objectives.
Demonstrate positive leadership in words and behavior to create a highly motivated, competent team.
Support the hiring and training of new personnel.
Suggest training to enhance employee performance and skill development.
Work collaboratively with other managers to address issues in a timely manner.
Confer with the Production Scheduler(s) on a regular basis to ensure that customer required delivery dates are met.
Notify the Scheduler(s) if there are material shortages or other problems that may effect on-time delivery.
Oversee the correct and timely pick-up of all materials from the warehouse, color room, and/or blending areas.
Make and/or approve identification labels and stencils for material being produced and verifies that containers are properly identified.
Ensure production operators are setting machine controls per the suggested running profiles.
Confers with general supervisor or plant business manager and /or laboratory personnel as needed to resolve problems.
Oversee that material samples are taken on a timely basis and that the quality of product is achieved.
Ensure that material is properly weighed and packaged for placement into finished goods inventory storage areas.
Initiates maintenance work orders for repairs and notifies manager of problems which may slow or halt production.
Signs off all necessary batch tickets to denote completion and approval. Records info into log books for all batches.
Keep work area organized and safe at all times.
The Supervisor may run equipment when needed such as to relieve for breaks or when someone calls off if needed to keep a line running. Supervisors ggenerally do not operate equipment full-time unless the position specifically is in a very small site/small shift and that is required (like 3rd shift with only 2other operators—the Supervisor may function more as a Lead or Operator but is responsible for overseeing the shift employees in addition to operating eequipment).
Additional duties as assigned, including housekeeping and assisting in other areas.
Minimum Requirements:
Education and/or Experience: High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or 7 years' related experience and/or training; or equivalent ccombination of education and experience.
Language Skills: Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports, memos, correspondence, and instructional documents. Must be able to effectively present information in one-on-one and small ggroup situations to team members, supervisors, customers, and vendors.
Mathematical Skills: Basic arithmetic skills in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute weight, vvolume, ratios, percentage, and unit conversion. Must be able to ensure that batch records are accurate and complete.
Reasoning Skills: Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form. Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
Computer Skills: Basic keyboarding, computer navigation, and data entry skills; ability to use training (LMS) and safety compliance software/mobile apps and email.
Certificates, Licenses, Registrations: Forklift certification preferred.
Physical Demands: The employee is constantly required to hear in work environments up to 80-100< dB; stand; walk; and use hands to finger, handle, grasp and/or feel. They are frequently required to speak; reach with hands and arms, including overhead; push and pull up to < 300 lbs. and over short distances; climb or balance; bend and lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. They are occasionally required to sit, stoop, kneel, crouch, and/or crawl. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
Work Environment: The employee is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts and fumes or airborne particles. The employee is occasionally exposed to high, exposed places; toxic or caustic chemicals; extreme heat; risk of electrical shock and vibration. The noise level in the work environment is usually loud.
