Licensed Professional Counselors (LPC-Associate) play a pivotal role in the mental health and well-being of individuals. They are trained to provide emotional support, guidance, and therapeutic interventions to clients experiencing a variety of mental health challenges. ResponsibilitiesConduct individual, couples, and group counseling sessionsDevelop and implement treatment plans based on client needs and goalsAssess clients' mental health status and progress through interviews and observationsProvide crisis intervention and emergency counseling as necessaryMaintain accurate and confidential client recordsCollaborate with other healthcare professionals to coordinate client careEducate clients about mental health issues and coping strategiesAdminister and interpret psychological assessments and testsParticipate in continuing education and professional development activitiesAdvocate for clients to access additional resources and support servicesComply with all legal and ethical guidelines in the counseling professionFacilitate support groups and workshops for clients and the communityEvaluate the effectiveness of counseling programs and interventionsProvide supervision and training to counseling interns and junior staffQualificationsMaster's degree in Counseling, Psychology, or related fieldLicensed as an LPC-A in the state of practiceExperience in a specific area of counseling, such as addiction, family therapy, or traumaStrong interpersonal and communication skillsKnowledge of current counseling practices and therapeutic techniquesAbility to work independently and as part of a teamFamiliarity with electronic health records (EHR) systemsBilingual abilities are often advantageousExperience in a clinical settingMaster's degree in Counseling, Psychology, or a related fieldState licensure as a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC)Completion of required supervised clinical hoursStrong understanding of ethical and legal guidelines in counselingExcellent listening and empathy skillsAbility to develop effective treatment plansProficiency in conducting assessments and therapeutic interventionsGood organizational and time-management abilitiesStrong problem-solving skillsCommitment to ongoing professional development
