Reporting directly to the President, the Controller will oversee all aspects of the company's accounting and finance function while serving as the primary financial leader supporting operational and strategic decision-making.This role is responsible for ensuring financial accuracy, strong internal controls, and disciplined accounting practices, while also strengthening the company's financial reporting, systems, and data insights to support business performance.The Controller will manage the finance team and partner closely with leadership across the organization to translate financial data into clear insights that guide operational decisions, improve profitability, and support long-term growth.The ideal candidate is both a strong accounting professional and a business-minded leader, capable of building financial structure while helping leadership make informed decisions using reliable data.Key ResponsibilitiesFinancial LeadershipLead and develop the accounting and finance team, fostering a culture of accountability, accuracy, and continuous improvementServe as the senior financial partner to the President and leadership teamTranslate financial and operational data into actionable insights that support decision-makingProvide financial perspective on operational performance, profitability, and growth opportunitiesAccounting & Financial OperationsOversee all accounting functions including general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable, and month-end closeEnsure accurate and timely preparation of financial statements and internal reportingMaintain strong accounting controls and ensure compliance with accounting standards and regulatory requirementsManage cash flow, working capital, and financial forecastingOversee inventory accounting, cost tracking, and margin reporting related to fuel and lubricant distributionCoordinate with external auditors, tax advisors, and financial partnersFinancial Reporting & Business IntelligenceStrengthen financial reporting capabilities across the organizationDevelop clear financial dashboards and reporting that support operational leadersPartner with leadership to analyze business performance and identify opportunities for improvementBuild financial models and scenario analysis to support capital investments and strategic initiativesImprove visibility into profitability by customer, product, and marketSystems & Process ImprovementStrengthen financial processes, controls, and reporting systemEnsure accurate data flow between operational systems and financial reportingIdentify opportunities to improve automation, reporting, and operational visibilityLeverage ERP and analytics tools to improve decision-making across the organizationQualificationsBachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related fieldCPA strongly preferred7–12+ years of progressive accounting or finance experienceExperience managing and developing accounting or finance teamsStrong understanding of financial reporting, internal controls, and operational accountingExperience supporting executive leadership with financial analysis and business decision supportExperience in distribution, energy, logistics, or industrial services businesses preferredFinancial Systems & Data ToolsExperience working within ERP systems; familiarity with Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central strongly preferredExperience building dashboards and financial reporting using tools such as Microsoft Power BI or similar analytics platformsStrong proficiency in Excel and financial modelingAbility to translate operational and financial data into insights that support leadership decision-makingLeadership AttributesThe successful candidate will demonstrate:Strong people leadership and team developmentAbility to build structure, discipline, and process within financial operationsA mindset focused on data-driven decision makingStrong communication skills with both operational teams and executive leadershipHigh integrity, accountability, and attention to detailWork Environment:Location : Office environment within the company's headquartersHours: Full-time position, typically 40-50 hours per week, with potential for extended hours during peak periods.Physical Requirements : Ability to sit for extended periods and perform computer-based tasks.Compensation:Salary : Competitive and commensurate with experience.Benefits : Health insurance, retirement plan, paid time off, and other standard company benefits.About Kimbro Oil CompanyKimbro Oil Company is a third-generation family business serving commercial, industrial, and transportation customers throughout the region.
