District Executive Chef - Boston
The District Executive Chef (DEC) supports 6–8 cafés by providing café management teams with the tools, training, leadership, and operational support necessary to ensure every savory kitchen team member delivers on Tatte’s commitment to uncompromising quality and craftsmanship. The DEC plays an important leadership role in developing café kitchen teams, maintaining food quality and safety standards, and building a strong and consistent savory culture across all café operations. District Executive Chefs work closely with District Managers, kitchen leadership teams, and cross functional partners to support operational excellence, team development, food safety, and successful execution across all savory operations. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES We expect our District Executive Chefs to: Lead with professionalism, accountability, and strong culinary leadership Maintain high standards for food quality, consistency, cleanliness, and food safety Develop and support kitchen leaders and savory teams through coaching, mentorship, and training Promote a positive, collaborative, and high performing kitchen culture Support operational excellence and consistency across multiple café locations Live Tatte’s core values and help support our mission Have flexibility to work a variety of shifts, including mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays Summary of Responsibilities Train café managers, supervisors, and hourly team members on food safety, sanitation, food quality, and kitchen leadership development Support team building and operational execution for new café openings Build trust with team members through clear communication, coaching, and feedback Partner with District Managers on selection, development, performance management, and succession planning of kitchen leadership teams Maintain savory food quality standards and ensure recipe adherence across cafés Oversee rollout and execution of new savory menu items Implement and maintain kitchen operational systems and standards Support and enforce food safety and sanitation procedures across café kitchens Assist kitchen leadership teams with inventory management, purchasing, storage, and waste reduction Teach and support ServSafe, Food Handler, and additional certification trainings Ensure management and supervisory team members maintain required certifications and licenses Certify kitchen team members for Pro Team, station lead, and MIT roles Investigate and resolve food quality and food safety concerns Partner with Culinary and Operations leadership to improve food quality and operational standards Other related assignments as necessary ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS / WORKING CONDITIONS Ability to work a flexible schedule based on business needs, including days, evenings, weekends, and holidays Ability to work 10+ hour shifts and stand, sit, squat, or walk for extended periods of time Ability to grasp, reach overhead, push, lift, and carry up to 50 pounds Ability to travel regularly between café locations within the market QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE Required 2–4 years of multi unit culinary leadership experience overseeing high volume, full service, or polished fast casual restaurant operations Strong understanding of guest service excellence and café operational performance Experience supporting P&L management, labor systems, inventory controls, and operational reporting Proven leadership skills with experience developing, coaching, and mentoring kitchen leadership teams Strong organizational, interpersonal, communication, and problem solving skills Highly organized with strong attention to detail High school diploma or equivalent required Preferred Degree or certification in Culinary Arts, Food Service Management, or related field preferred Proficiency in Microsoft Office including Word, Excel, and Outlook Previous experience with UltiPro, Toast POS, CrunchTime, and Teamworks preferred Current ServSafe, Allergen, and ChokeSaver certifications preferred Experience supporting New Café Openings Experience leading operations within comparable or higher volume café environments Operational experience within the Tri State market preferred Reliable transportation and ability to travel regularly between cafés required OUR BENEFITS & PERKS Competitive Pay: $105,000–$130,000 annually, depending on experience, with bonus potential up to 10% Paid vacation and sick time 401(k) with company match Free employee assistance program services Flexible schedules with no late nights Health, dental, and vision insurance Complimentary meals and drinks Exciting potential for growth Learn more about us at tattebakery.com Join us on our journey to create something special!
