Extraction Technician
Earn up to $1.00 in merit-based raises during your first year with performance evaluations at 6 and 12 months.Summary of the Role: The Extraction Technician is responsible for supporting the processing, extraction, and production of cannabis products in the laboratory while adhering to all state regulations and internal Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs). This role plays a critical part in the seed-to-sale production chain, serving as a bridge between cultivation, extraction, and finished product packaging. The Extraction Technician supports manufacturing activities with speed, quality, and accuracy and is responsible for equipment operation and maintenance, inventory management, recordkeeping, and quality control throughout the production process to ensure all products meet established quality and compliance standards.Key Responsibilities:General Lab OperationsDemonstrate basic knowledge of cannabis, extraction, and infused product manufacturingSupport day-to-day production activities in the Extraction Lab, including equipment setup, operation, and breakdownFollow all Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), safety policies, and state medical marijuana regulationsMaintain a clean, safe, and organized laboratory environment, including cleaning and sanitizing equipment, tools, and work surfacesWork effectively in a fast-paced, rapidly changing production environmentExtraction & Production SupportAssist in all phases of the extraction process, including material preparation, extraction, post-processing, and product finishingOperate laboratory instruments and extraction equipment under approved procedures and supervision as requiredMonitor extraction processes, record operational data, and report results to supervisory staffPrepare biomass and other materials for extraction, ensuring proper labeling, batch tracking, and inventory controlSupport winterization, filtration, rotary evaporation (rotovap), and distillation processes, including solvent handling and temperature monitoring in accordance with SOPsAssist with pre-processing, post-processing, and packaging functions, including filling, labeling, and pack-out of finished productsQuality Assurance & ComplianceConduct routine quality checks to ensure all processes and products meet laboratory and quality assurance standardsMaintain accurate and complete records and logbooks for extractions, production batches, inventory, and equipment useAdhere to the lab safety plan/manual and Safety Data Sheet (SDS) requirementsIdentify and immediately report deviations, equipment malfunctions, or safety concerns to supervisory staffEnsure laboratory operations remain compliant at all timesInventory & DocumentationMaintain and update chemical, ingredient, and packaging inventoriesPerform clerical and documentation duties related to extraction and concentrate laboratory operationsSupport traceability and seed-to-sale compliance through accurate recordkeepingFacilities & HousekeepingWork cross-functionally to maintain exemplary standards of cleanliness, organization, functionality, safety, and security throughout the facilityOther DutiesPerform additional duties as assigned to support efficient, compliant operationsPosition Requirements:Experience in any relevant trades, including horticulture, food handling, etc.Flexible schedule availability including nights, weekends and holidaysHigh School Diploma or GEDExperience in any relevant trades, including horticulture, food handling, etc.Must be at least 21 years of age to work within the OH MMCPAbility to pass a criminal background check.Attention to detailKitchen background is preferred but not requiredLaboratory experience is preferred but not requiredPhysical and Environmental Requirements:The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.Ability to lift, push, and pull 50 poundsAbility to sit, squat, bend, and kneel repetitively throughout a workdayAbility to stand for extended periods of timeExtended computer usageComfortable working in an environment with constant video surveillanceAbility to work around plantsWork can be dirty/sticky and may leave you smelling like cannabis at the end of the day.Work will be in a warehouse setting: temperatures may vary from warm to cool.Work environments that include exposure to, but not limited to, fumes, dust, odors, heights, indoor AC, no AC, motion, and noise.Management reserves the right to assign other job duties as necessary, with or without notice.
