Full Job DescriptionTax ManagerAbout The RoleWe are a small, dynamic CPA firm seeking a Tax Manager to join our team and take ownership of client relationships while playing a key role in tax compliance, planning, and firm operations. This is a hands-on position ideal for someone who enjoys variety-working directly with clients, reviewing and preparing returns, mentoring staff, and contributing to the firm's long-term growth.Our firm values flexibility, approachability, and high-quality client service. You will manage your own client base, collaborate closely with partners, and have exposure to all facets of public accounting, with future leadership or ownership opportunities for the right candidate.Key ResponsibilitiesTax & CompliancePrepare and review individual, business, trust, and estate tax returns (Forms 1040, 1065, 1120, 1120-S, 1041)Manage tax compliance calendars, extensions, and deadlinesPerform tax research and apply federal and state tax law to resolve complex issuesRespond to IRS and state notices and support audits as neededTax Planning & AdvisoryProactively assist clients with tax planning, projections, and strategy developmentAdvise clients on entity structure, business decisions, and long-term tax implicationsServe as a trusted advisor, helping clients understand their financial and tax pictureAccounting & Financial OversightReview and analyze financial statementsOversee or assist with accounting and bookkeeping services for select clientsEnsure accurate, timely, and compliant financial reportingClient & Firm LeadershipManage and maintain strong client relationships through regular communicationMentor and review work of staff and interns; provide training and guidanceIdentify opportunities to improve processes, leverage technology, and enhance client serviceParticipate in firm growth efforts, including client development and new service offeringsQualificationsRequiredBachelor's degree in Accounting or a related fieldCPA license (or actively pursuing CPA)3-8+ years of experience in public accounting with a strong tax backgroundExperience preparing and reviewing individual and business tax returnsStrong understanding of federal and state tax lawProficiency in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Excel, Word)Experience with professional tax software (CCH experience is a plus)PreferredPrior experience managing or reviewing staff workClient advisory and tax planning experienceStrong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skillsAbility to work independently while collaborating with a small teamWhat We OfferCompetitive compensation based on experienceFlexible / hybrid work environmentOpportunity to manage your own client baseBroad exposure to tax, accounting, and advisory workProfessional growth and leadership opportunitiesSupportive, collaborative firm culturePotential for long-term advancement or ownershipBenefits401(k) matchingContinuing education creditsHealth, dental, and vision insurancePaid time offPaid trainingOpportunities for advancement
