Details Acute Care Hospital setting with 233 total staffed beds Step Down Unit (SDU) with a 1:4 nurse-to-patient ratio Night shift schedule: 3x12-hour shifts (19:00–07:30) Requires 2 weekend shifts every other weekend; nights may fall on Friday/Saturday or Saturday/Sunday depending on rotation Floating required to lower-acuity floors as needed to meet facility needs Block scheduling is not available Charting via Epic (experience required) Free parking on-site Requirements Active MO RN license or Compact RN license valid in Missouri required at time of consideration; pending IL license candidates may be considered with noted documentation Current certifications required: BLS, ACLS, and NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) Minimum 2 years of Step Down or comparable acute care bedside experience required Must have been actively working at the bedside within the last 6 months Proficiency required with titration of vasopressors, sedation medications, and insulin drips Experience required with trach/vents, arterial lines, external pacemakers, and chest tubes Epic EMR experience required Additional Information Candidates must reside more than 75 miles from the facility to be eligible; local candidates are not accepted First-time travelers are not eligible for this position Former permanent employees of any BJC facility must wait 1 year before returning as a traveler Travelers may remain placed at this facility for up to 18 months, after which a 3-month break in service is required RTO is limited to no more than 7 days per 13-week contract; no RTO is permitted during the first week of orientation Navy scrubs are required American Traveler Job ID P-688417.
