Position SummaryThe Service Deli Manager is responsible for leading all aspects of the Deli Department, ensuring high-quality food preparation, exceptional customer service, and strong sales performance. This role oversees daily operations, maintains food safety and sanitation standards, and drives a fresh, well-stocked, and visually appealing department.Key ResponsibilitiesDepartment OperationsOversee daily deli operations including food preparation, cooking, slicing, packaging, and stockingEnsure all products meet company standards for quality, freshness, and presentationMaintain clean, organized workstations, service cases, and prep areasCustomer Service ExcellenceProvide outstanding customer service and ensure team members deliver the sameAssist customers with product selection, special orders, and recommendationsCreate a welcoming, fresh, and appetizing department environmentFood Safety & ComplianceEnsure strict adherence to food safety, sanitation, and health regulationsMaintain proper food handling, temperature controls, dating, and rotation practicesEnsure all equipment is operated safely and cleaned according to standardsInventory & Shrink ControlManage ordering to maintain proper inventory levels while minimizing waste and shrinkControl food costs through accurate production planning and portion controlEnsure proper receiving, storage, and product rotationMerchandising & SalesExecute service case displays, hot case offerings, and grab-and-go presentationsSupport ad features, promotions, and seasonal items to drive salesEnsure accurate pricing and clear signage throughout the departmentTeam Leadership & DevelopmentSupervise, schedule, and train deli associatesDelegate tasks and ensure completion of daily production and service goalsProvide coaching, feedback, and recognition to build a strong teamQualificationsPrevious deli, food service, or grocery experience requiredSupervisory or leadership experience preferredKnowledge of food preparation, safety, and sanitation practicesStrong organizational and time management skillsAbility to work in a fast-paced, high-volume environmentFlexible availability, including nights, weekends, and holidaysKey AttributesStrong focus on food quality and safetyCustomer-focused and service-drivenDetail-oriented and highly organizedStrong sense of urgency and efficiencyEffective leader and team builder
