This position could be first shift, or eventually move to second shift if preferred, after training is complete.Primary function: To set up and operate Computer Numerical Controlled (CNC) machining centers to machine metallic and nonmetallic parts.Essential functions: To perform this job successfully an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required:Strong understanding of precision machiningMust be a self-starter, able to work with little to no supervisionWrites simple CNC programs at the machine and can troubleshoot programsPerforms in-process quality inspections and adjust the machine when neededPerforms machine setups, as requiredCollaborates with engineers, lead toolmakers, programmers, and other team members to resolve machining challengesInterprets blueprints with knowledge of dimensional tolerances and GD&TPerforms basic machine maintenancePreferred education and experience:Vocational education and/or 3+ years of experience in a job shop, non-production environmentStrong written and verbal communication skillsCollaborator who works well with team members across all departmentsGeneral computer and software navigation skillsOther duties may be assignedWorking conditions and physical requirements:Typical manufacturing environment with occasional exposure to higher levels of noise, dust, debris, and chemicalsStandard physical hazards from moving equipment & machine partsMay be required to climb stairs and laddersMust be able to push and/or pull up to 50 poundsReasonable accommodations may be made to enable qualified individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions of this position.
