Position and StatusHead Wrestling Coach – Lincoln High SchoolFLSA Status: Non-ExemptFTE Status: 1.0Reports To: Athletic Director/PrincipalQualificationsPossess a high school diplomaDemonstrated knowledge of wrestling techniques, strategies, conditioning, and skill development at the high school level.Ability to design and implement effective practice plans that promote athlete development, safety, and performance.Knowledge of and adherence to Michigan High School Athletic Association (MHSAA) rules, regulations, and eligibility requirements.Strong understanding of student-athlete development, including physical, mental, and emotional well-being.Ability to supervise and evaluate assistant coaches and support staff.Experience organizing and managing team logistics, including scheduling, travel, equipment, and budgeting.Certification in CPR, First Aid, and AED (or willingness to obtain prior to season).Knowledge of concussion protocols, injury prevention, and safe training practices.Ability to build and sustain a positive team culture focused on accountability, discipline, and respect.Strong communication skills with athletes, parents/guardians, school staff, and the community.Ability to motivate and inspire student-athletes of varying skill levels and backgrounds.Experience with film review, match analysis, and performance tracking (preferred).Commitment to academic success and monitoring student-athlete eligibility and progress.Willingness to support off-season training, camps, and youth program development.Ability to manage conflict and address behavioral or team issues in a constructive manner.Demonstrated organizational and time-management skills.Willingness to work evenings, weekends, and extended hours during the season.Commitment to representing the school and district with professionalism and integrity.Meet requirements for public school employment.Physical DemandsWhile performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle or feel objects, tools, or controls; reach with hands and arms; talk or hear; and taste or smell. The employee is often required to sit and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distant vision and the ability to adjust focus. The ability to travel to other buildings is required.
