Payroll AnalystThe Payroll Analyst will support the day-to-day operations of a centralized payroll function, ensuring accurate and compliant payroll processing across multiple business units and jurisdictions. This role is responsible for auditing payroll activities, researching discrepancies, identifying trends and anomalies in payroll data, and ensuring issues are resolved in a timely manner. The position requires strong knowledge of multi-state payroll regulations, compensation practices, and payroll taxation in a high-volume, deadline-driven environment.**Open to remote employment in FL, NC, GA, OH, CT, CO, TX**Key ResponsibilitiesEnsure accurate, compliant, and timely payroll processing using enterprise payroll systemsMaintain and update payroll-related records, including employee data, timekeeping information, and tax detailsSupport implementation and adherence to payroll best practices across operating groupsInvestigate and resolve payroll discrepancies and respond to payroll-related inquiriesAudit and reconcile quarterly and annual payroll tax filings and respond to agency noticesSupport payroll-related benefits administration activitiesPrepare and maintain payroll and HR reports while ensuring confidentiality and accuracyEnsure compliance with applicable federal, state, and local payroll regulations and wage lawsCollaborate cross-functionally with HR, payroll operations, and systems teamsProvide guidance and training to payroll support staff as neededCore Responsibilities Payroll Operations – 80% Review and audit payroll transactions processed by payroll team membersAudit and submit payroll files, including direct deposit, garnishment, and tax files, to payroll vendorsReconcile and remit third-party payments, including retirement contributions and voluntary deductionsProcess supplemental and off-cycle payroll transactionsCalculate and process payroll transactions impacting gross-to-net pay, including:Base pay and overtimeIncentive and one-time paymentsTermination and leave paymentsDeductions and garnishmentsOverpayments and recovery adjustmentsEmployee tax setup and maintenancePrepare and upload payroll batch files according to system requirementsAssist with year-end payroll reporting and tax documentationSupport quarterly, monthly, and annual reconciliations and payroll tax balancing activitiesProcess manual checks and electronic payments for payroll corrections or off-cycle requests Payroll Compliance & Controls – 20% Review payroll data for accuracy, compliance, and unusual activityMaintain payroll documentation and standard operating proceduresResearch and resolve payroll tax notices and compliance issuesAssist with testing and implementation of payroll-related legislative or system changesSupport payroll system configuration testing and validation effortsRecommend and implement process improvements and operational efficienciesPerform additional duties as assignedQualifications2+ years of payroll processing experience in a high-volume, multi-state environmentBachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Human Resources, Business Administration, or equivalent experienceStrong understanding of payroll operations, tax regulations, and wage and hour lawsExperience working with enterprise payroll platforms and third-party payroll providersStrong analytical, mathematical, and problem-solving skillsAbility to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environmentHigh attention to detail and commitment to accuracy
