DescriptionAt the Hockomock Area YMCA, summer camp is more than just games and sunshine-it's a place where every child belongs.We are looking for Inclusive Camp Counselors at all of our camp sites in Franklin, North Attleboro, and Foxboro who are passionate about creating a camp experience where all children feel seen, supported, and celebrated. In this role, you'll help bring the magic of summer to life-adapting activities, building connections, and ensuring every camper has the opportunity to participate fully and confidently.If you're someone who leads with empathy, energy, and a belief that every child deserves a place to thrive, we'd love to meet you.What You'll DoBring camp to life by leading and participating in games, songs, and daily activities with enthusiasmCreate a welcoming, inclusive environment where all campers feel valued and supportedAdapt activities like sports, arts & crafts, swimming, and STEAM to meet diverse needs and abilitiesBuild strong, positive relationships with campers to encourage participation, confidence, and social growthSupport campers using individualized approaches (visual schedules, social stories, transitions, etc.) to help them succeedModel kindness, respect, and YMCA values in every interactionCollaborate with camp leadership and fellow counselors to plan creative themes, activities, and group experiencesObserve and share insights with leadership to support camper success and communication with familiesPromote positive peer interactions and help guide social skill developmentEnsure a safe, structured, and fun environment by following all health and safety protocolsAssist with daily operations, including attendance, and camper drop-off and pick-up procedures What You BringA genuine passion for working with children of all abilitiesPatience, creativity, and a flexible approach to problem-solvingStrong communication and teamwork skillsA positive, energetic attitude and willingness to jump into all aspects of camp lifeExperience supporting children with diverse needs is a plus (but not required-we'll train you!) For many children, you are the reason camp feels possible-and unforgettable.RequirementsMust be at least 18 years old, or have 2-3 years of related experienceAbility to obtain First Aid, CPR, and AED certification (training provided)Successful completion of CORI/SORI Background ChecksPrevious summer camp or youth program experience preferredExperience supporting participants with diverse needs, including behavioral or developmental differencesFamiliarity with behavior support strategies; experience training or mentoring others is a plusStrong ability to plan, organize, and lead engaging, full-day camp activitiesExcellent interpersonal skills, with demonstrated dependability, maturity, creativity, patience, and sound judgmentAbility to create a safe, inclusive, and fun environment for all participantsComfortable working both independently and collaboratively, with a positive and team-oriented approachCommitment to the mission, values, and philosophy of the Hockomock Area YMCAWillingness to take initiative, adapt, and step in where needed to support a high-quality camp experience
