Senior Accounting Specialist

Job Description Position SummaryThe Senior Accounting Specialist supports the daily operations of the accounting function and assists with financial reporting, month-end close activities, compliance support, and cash monitoring. This role works collaboratively with finance leadership and operational teams to help ensure accurate reporting, efficient accounting processes, and strong internal controls.This position also provides day-to-day coordination and guidance to the Accounts Receivable and Accounts Payable team to support timely processing and accurate financial records.This role is ideal for a senior accounting professional ready to expand responsibility while remaining hands-on in accounting operations.ResponsibilitiesAccounting OperationsSupport daily accounting activities including accounts payable, accounts receivable, bank reconciliations, fixed assets tracking, payroll coordination, and maintenance of accounting recordsProvide day-to-day coordination and guidance to Accounts Receivable and Accounts Payable team membersReview AR/AP activity for accuracy, completeness, and timelinessPerform monthly closing procedures within CargoWise OnePrepare and analyze CargoWise One month-end reporting resultsAssist with maintaining accounting policies, procedures, and documentation supporting internal controlsMaintain organized accounting records and supporting schedulesFinancial Reporting & AnalysisPrepare periodic financial reports and supporting schedulesAssist with preparation of annual budgets and forecasts through analysis of historical expenditure activityPrepare and analyze monthly borrowing base reporting related to the company's line of creditSupport variance analysis and financial trend review as requestedCash Management SupportMonitor cash activity and support tracking of inflows and outflows to help maintain operational liquidityAssist with preparation of cash-related reporting and reconciliationsCompliance & Audit SupportSupport external audit preparation and documentation requestsHelp ensure compliance with applicable local, state, and federal reporting requirementsMaintain documentation supporting financial reporting accuracy and audit readinessCollaboration & Process ImprovementWork closely with the Corporate Operational Controller, Regional Controller, and Chief Financial Officer on reporting and accounting support activitiesIdentify opportunities to improve accounting workflows and reporting efficiencyAssist with documentation updates and coordination of accounting process improvementsHelp identify training needs within AR/AP processesPerform other related duties as assignedRequired Skills & AbilitiesStrong organizational and time-management skillsStrong analytical and problem-solving abilityExcellent written and verbal communication skillsAbility to interpret financial data and prepare supporting reportsAbility to coordinate workflow across accounting support functionsStrong interpersonal and team collaboration skillsProficiency with accounting software systemsStrong Microsoft Excel skillsWorking knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite or similar toolsAbility to support multiple priorities in a deadline-driven environmentPreferred Technical ExperienceExperience with CargoWise OneExperience with MagayaExperience supporting month-end close processesExperience working in logistics, freight forwarding, transportation, or supply-chain-related environmentsEducation & ExperienceBachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business Administration required4–7 years of progressive accounting experience preferredExperience supporting financial reporting and reconciliation processes strongly preferredExperience coordinating Accounts Receivable and Accounts Payable workflows preferredCPA or CMA designation considered a plus but not required
