Position Type:Middle School Teaching/Social StudiesDate Posted:2/2/2026Location:Ashton-Franklin Center Jr/Sr High SchoolDate Available:08/03/2026Closing Date:03/27/2026District:Ashton-Franklin Center CUSD #275TITLE: High School Agriculture/Science TeacherQUALIFICATIONS: Valid Illinois Professional Educator Licensure for this positionDUTIES: Junior High School Social Studies TeacherREPORTS TO: Jr/Sr High School PrincipalPERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:Potential to teach lower level high school Social Studies coursesPotential to teach JH elective courseConducts ongoing assessment of student learning, and modifies instructional methods to fit individual student's needs, including students with special needs.Continues to acquire professional knowledge and learn of current developments in the educational field by attending seminars, workshops or professional meetings, or by conducting research, and by maintaining professional relationships with members of the business community.Organizes and maintains a system for accurate and complete record-keeping, grading, and reporting for all student activities, achievement and attendance as required by district procedures and applicable laws.Promotes a classroom environment that is safe and conducive to individualized and small group instruction, and student learning.Develops lesson plans and instructional materials and translates lesson plans into learning experiences so as to best utilize the available time for instruction.Encourages parental involvement in students' education and ensures effective communication with students and parents.Ensures that student conduct conforms with the school's standards and school district policies, and establishes and maintains standards of student behavior needed to achieve a functional learning atmosphere in the classroom.Coordinates with other professional staff members and participates in faculty meetings and committees.Selects and requisitions appropriate books, instructional aids and other supplies and equipment and maintains inventory records.Performs other related tasks as assigned by the Principal.TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: Per Contractual Agreement and Board Policy.EVALUATION: Performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with provisions of the Board's policy on Evaluation of Professional PersonnelSIGNING BONUS: Signing bonus policy to be shared with offerCOMPENSATION: Base salary for teacher is $42,264.89 (plus TRS and health insurance benefits, as agreed upon by the AFC Education Association and Board of Education.Twelve (12) days per year sick leaveThree (3) days per year personal leaveSign-on bonus for new certified employeesTuition reimbursement opportunities
