OverviewUnder the general supervision of the Athletic Director, the Head Coach Women Basketball – Team Recruitment and Academics is responsible for leading all aspects of the Women's Basketball program while also serving as a dedicated college recruiter. This position splits responsibilities evenly between athletic program leadership and student recruitment and enrollment support.In collaboration with Academic Advising and Recruitment, this position recruits, advises, and supports prospective and enrolled student-athletes while also contributing to general student recruitment efforts within the College. The role ensures effective recruitment, retention, academic success, and athletic development of student-athletes while maintaining compliance with NJCAA, Title IX, and institutional policies.ResponsibilitiesWomen's Basketball Program Leadership:Leads and oversees all aspects of the Women's Basketball program, including preseason preparation, in-season practices, game planning, and postseason wrap-up activities. Plans and conducts practices, develops game strategies, makes in-game coaching decisions, organizes team travel, and supervises assistant coaches, student-athletes, and related team personnel. Manages equipment, uniforms, and apparel requests; assists with scheduling; contributes to budget planning; and ensures accurate inventory tracking. Represents the program at institutional events, including the annual Athletic Banquet, and ensures positive and professional interactions with all team members and College staff.Student Recruitment and Enrollment:Serves as a recruiter for prospective student-athletes and general MATC students by identifying, contacting, and advising prospective students and representing MATC at schools, athletic events, and community organizations. Acts as a primary point of contact for prospects, assists with applications and enrollment processes, and uses CRM systems to document recruitment activity. Plans and coordinates recruitment events and campus visits, monitors eligibility and academic progress, and collaborates with advising and academic services to support enrollment and retention.Student-Athlete Support & Coordination:Works closely with student-athletes by providing coaching, mentoring, and guidance while reinforcing athletic and institutional expectations. Collaborates with faculty, advising, and admissions staff to support coordinated academic services for student-athletes. Provides regular updates to leadership, including the Athletic Director and Director of Recruitment, regarding team status, recruitment activity, and program operations.Program Administration and Team Supervision:Manages program operations, including budget oversight, inventory management, and compliance with NJCAA, Title IX, and institutional regulations. Maintains accurate recruitment and participation documentation and provides guidance to student-athletes on academic progress, eligibility, and general student success. Major budget and policy decisions are elevated to appropriate leadership for approval.Data-Driven Decision Making and Continuous Improvement:Leverages data analytics to drive informed decision-making and fosters continuous improvement within the area of responsibility. Analyzes key performance indicators (KPIs) and relevant metrics to gain actionable insights and monitors performance measures aligned with organizational goals. Utilizes data to inform strategic and operational decisions and applies continuous improvement methodologies (e.g., Plan–Do–Study–Act) based on data analysis promoting a data-driven culture and enhancing team data literacy.Ethics and Confidentiality:Practices honesty by demonstrating a consistent and uncompromising adherence to strong moral and ethical principles, values, truthfulness, and accuracy in all actions. Responsibilities include hiring, coaching/mentoring, performance management, and progressive discipline as needed.Continuous Learning & Professional Development:Maintains current knowledge of best practices and standards in higher education with an emphasis on community Colleges. Actively organizes and/or participates in applicable workgroups, trainings, workshops, seminars, committees and professional associations or conferences to promote continuous learning.Other Duties:Performs other related duties within the scope of the position as required for the efficient operation of the division and to support institutional objectives.Supervisory ResponsibilitiesDelegation of Work:Regularly assigns work to subordinate(s) (i.e. Assistant Coaches).Supervision Given:Supervises managerial, supervisory, and professional personnel. Provides recommendations on hiring new employees; on coaching and counseling; on training; and granting time off.Compliance with all state, federal, and accreditation standards/requirements, as well as all MATC policies and procedures.Required Minimum Education & ExperienceHigh School Diploma; and at least two (2) years of combined experience in recruiting, advising, and athletic coaching at the college level or higher.Preferred Education & ExperienceBachelor's degree; and more than (2) years of combined experience in recruiting, advising, and athletic coaching at the college level or higher. Preference for three (3) or more years of experience as a Head or an Assistant Coach.Industry License and Vendor CertificationsMust be approved by MATC insurance provider via submission of MVR information prior to the start date.Will be required to complete an internally provided defensive driving course before driving a school vehicle.Must complete basic CPR and AED certification within 30 days of hire if not currently certified in both.Knowledge, Skills and AbilitiesBasic understanding of and knowledge of college resources for students.Proven skills and knowledge of recruitment and the admissions/enrollment management field.Knowledge of trends, issues, and accepted practices relevant to the position.Ability to effectively communicate with a wide range of individuals and constituencies in a diverse community.Knowledge of NJCAA rules and intercollegiate athletic compliance requirements.Excellent attention to detail and accountability for high-end and accurate output.Demonstrates strong diplomacy skills and the ability to make sound judgments.Proficient with Google Suite and other reporting software.Ability to quickly learn new systems and processes.Able to deal with interruptions and work in a fast-paced office environment.Maintains a high level of confidentiality.Consistently provides a high level of service to students and members of the community.Strong written communication skills; ability to write clear, structured, articulate communications.Excellent organizational skills with an ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks and a variety of demands.Strong self-motivation and ability to work both independently and as a team member.Start DateThis position supports the Retention and Completion – Athletics Division and is available to start as soon as possible.Hours1.0 FTE; exempt position and works year-round.Location100% ON SITE, primarily based out of the Milwaukee Downtown location. Must be willing to travel and work a flexible schedule including some evening and weekend hours.
