General Clerk- Grocery Reports to: Grocery ManagerStarting rate of pay: $17.00/hrCompany Benefits: Flexible Hours, Employee Discount, 10 Paid Holidays (including 2 days for your birthday)*, Medical/Vision/Dental Package*, Free Life Insurance*, Vacation and Sick Leave*, Voluntary Insurance Plans (Life, Disability, Cancer, Accidental), Long Term Disability, Discounted Gym membership-(YMCA), Matching 401K*, Management Bonuses* (For qualifying positions)Position Summary: Stocks merchandise and prepares displays, while maintaining a neat, clean and safe environment, while providing standard customer service.Job Duties:Greets customers when within ten feet and four seconds of contactAssists customers on the grocery floor by finding items, returns stray items to their proper area, and removes damaged products from customer viewStocks and rotates grocery items, while keeping all labels faced forwardPulls empty cardboard boxes off the shelves from around the store and bales boxes following proper equipment proceduresProvides some cashiering and bagging help when needed, register accuracy, knows/ carries out proper register proceduresReturns misplaced products to their appropriate area, while maintaining product freshness by returning all perishables and frozen items to their proper areas promptlyPerforms other related duties as needed as assigned by managerCapabilities:Stand for long periods of time, very frequent walking back and forth from grocery warehouse to grocery floorCarry up to 60 pounds, push and pull up to 1000 pounds with pallet mule, frequent motions with arms/hands to stock items, bend to fill products on lower levelsUse of proper safety proceduresAble to multitask, listen to directions and follow through independentlyAble to deal with difficult customers, have good communication and observation skillsAble to work with a team and independently when neededJob Skills:Previous experience working with the publicAble to use box cuttersKnowledge of location of productsWorking knowledge of produce codes required, while able to differentiate between different produce products required when ringingEnvironment: Air condition while in store, subject to outside conditions of heat, rain, and wind, chill temperatures when products need to be retrieved from chill and freezerOther: Must be at least 18 years of age to ring register and operate machinery
