Competency and Calibration Manager

We are committed to supporting the food industry through expert guidance, innovation, and a deep understanding of global safety regulations.Description of Job Function:This position is designed to ensure consistency of competency documentation and training and calibration activities. Specific duties include but are not limited to training Certification Services auditors and other employees to assist with providing adequate resources to audit, train new and existing auditors. Actively supports the Certification Services Management team and administrative employees in maintaining audit efficiency and capability to accept new business. Collaborates with the certification staff to set up timely audits for our witness program. Audits GFSI standards where applicable and performing the annual internal audit.Responsibilities:Manage the development of the necessary programs, procedures and documentation for Certification related Competency and Calibration activities through coordination with Certification Managers, auditors, and auditor administration manager.Further enhance, promote and manage our internal GMP inspector to GFSI auditor development program.Supports consistency by providing training for auditors performing witnessed assessments, completing technical reviews and reports according to ISO/TS 17065 (BRC/SQF/IFS) and ISO 17021 (ISO/FSSC 22000/ISO 9001).Conduct peer reviews of auditors and assists with screening and interviewing of new hires within ISO/TS 17065 and ISO/TS 17021-1 system to assess skill level and acceptance to proceed with qualification or addition of categories.Assist Certification Managers and administrative employees in dealing with inquiries related to competency and calibration as requested.Assist as needed with performing witness audits for new and existing auditors according to the scheme and standard rules.Carry out internal audits according to the QMS requirements as requested (annual plan).Review and verify GFSI and RSPO internal corrective and preventive actions are completed within ISO 17065 and ISO 17021 guidelines.Act as a technical backup for all Certification Schemes.Additional Activities:Audit to applicable GFSI standards where required.Maintain a collaborative and favorable working relationship with all other company employees to foster and promote a cooperative and harmonious working climate that will be conducive to maximum employee morale, productivity, efficiency and effectiveness.Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor.Principal Customers:Certification Services staff, AIB and AIBI Staff.Qualifications Required:EducationBachelor's degree from an accredited college or university.Previous training in HACCP, food safety and quality systems.Certified and registered auditor in one or all the following Standards: BRCGS, SQF, FSSC 22000, IFSFormal training in quality system auditing such as Lead Assessor, GFSI Standard Schemes, ISO/IEC 17021-1, ISO and TS 17065.ExperienceMinimum of five years of food plant experience in a responsible position related to food safety and quality systems.Minimum of five years of experience in GFSI auditing.Administrative SkillsMust possess excellent management and leadership skills. Must be able to demonstrate excellent verbal communication skills and clear and concise writing abilities, including correct grammar, sentence structure and spelling.Must be able to organize travel itineraries, make travel arrangements and travel to inspection sites; be able to work independently of direct office supervision and file all reports, requests for information and expense vouchers in a timely manner.Basic computer proficiency is required.Physical SkillsPhysically able to safely ascend to heights, be able to bend, crawl and move safely and freely around machinery and building without assistance.Must have eyesight or corrected eyesight to safely work around and inspect equipment, identify insect pests and to prepare inspection notes and reports without assistance.Other Requirements:Professional conduct, appearance and demeanor is expected at all times.Carry out audit assignments as time permits and follow all written and verbal instructions from Certification Services.Maintain a valid and current driver's license, current automobile liability insurance and maintain a personal vehicle for business use.Maintain fiscal responsibility that will enable the auditor to travel, work and be away from home during company business.Make travel arrangements for certification activities as needed.Required to always maintain Certification Services and customer confidentiality.All qualified applicants will receive consideration for employment without regard to race, color, religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, national origin, disability or veteran status.Equal Opportunity Employer
