Job Overview
We are seeking a highly organized and proactive Scheduler to join our dynamic security team. Duties
Schedule patient appointments accurately using EMR systems such as Epic, Meditech, Athenahealth, or eClinicalWorks
Verify insurance coverage and perform insurance verification to facilitate smooth patient check-in processes
Manage appointment changes, cancellations, and rescheduling efficiently to optimize provider availability
Review documentation for completeness and accuracy, including medical records and care plans
Coordinate with clinical staff to ensure proper patient flow and timely service delivery
Maintain organized filing of medical records and documentation in compliance with HIPAA regulations
Answer multi-line phone systems with professional phone etiquette while providing excellent patient service
Assist with intake procedures at the front desk, including data entry and patient registration
Support medical billing and coding processes by understanding CPT coding, ICD-9/10 codes, and medical terminology
Utilize office management software such as Eaglesoft or Dentrix for scheduling and administrative tasks
Ensure all scheduling activities adhere to HIPAA guidelines and maintain confidentiality of protected health information
Experience
Proven experience in medical scheduling within a healthcare setting, preferably in clinics or dental offices
Familiarity with EMR/EHR systems like Epic, Meditech, Athenahealth, or eClinicalWorks is highly preferred
Strong knowledge of medical billing, CPT coding, ICD-9/10 coding, and insurance verification processes
Prior experience working with hospital or clinic environments is advantageous
Excellent organizational skills with the ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment
Bilingual abilities are a plus to effectively serve diverse patient populations
Demonstrated proficiency in computer skills including Microsoft Office suite and office management software
Strong communication skills with professional phone etiquette and customer service orientation
Knowledge of dental terminology and dental office experience is beneficial for dental clinic roles
Previous clerical or administrative experience in a healthcare setting is highly valued
